ive been searching threads to find pis of white interiors and upholstered running boards to get some ideas for my 39,like a lot of cars mine has been a hotrod for a lot of years and everyone has added or changed it with the eras and trends along the way making it a little bit of everything,i love the late 50's early 60's look so with a few changes i should be able to acheive want i want, the interior is grey and black and the running boards are smoothie painted but are well made steel ones, they extend farther than original ones up the front fender so it would mean painting and the color is a candy so pretty difficult to match,i like the look of covered boards so i was looking to get some pics/ideas of what you guys have...thanks

U can buy some black ribbed vinyl flooring material pretty inexpensive at Lowes if u want to play and see what the smoothie running boards look like more original style. Passes the 10 foot test in my opinion.

squeaks 39 is a sweet ass ride.....his color combo is spot on in my opinion

  11. Looks like a super nice ride Kiwi!

When you do the running boards you might consider doing the leading/trailing/bottom edges in the maroon or a red similar to the body colour to de-emphasise the length of the boards themselves.. Just a thought.

    Here's a (very) quick photo-chop:

hey thanks for the photoshop!....thats a great idea on the pipeing, dont know if you noticed but the running board doesnt line up with the bottom of the front fender so a good friend and fellow hamber (Themetalsurgeon) is going to modify them to fit and since i will be covering them piant matching them wont matter

I'm also looking to be doing a white tuck n roll interior in my 40 pickup. What are others using to keep them clean or cleaning them when needed???

  14. Mild soapy water and a clean rinse seems to work best for me. AND never wear a new pair of jeans!!! ;)

The gold coupe was mine so, if you have a question about how it was done, just ask. Mike

Thanks man. I found those chrome covers years ago and thought they looked cool. The knobs were made by So-Cal. As I recall, they were similar to a '39 Merc. I got them through Bob Drake. My running board covers were made out of marine grade vinyl. The upholstery guy sewed all the pleats. Then we used white snaps on the edges. Also, a thin strip of velcro to keep it tight to the board. No glue. The edge against the body is just a flush fit but it always held fine and never came loose. Again, just thin velcro strips. Hope that helps you.
