There's no doubt that BJ follows the money. But it's a masterful production.
If you've never been and only know it from TV, then you don't understand enough to comment one way or another. I wouldn't watch two minutes of that horrid TV coverage.

I went out to BJ yesterday. I parked, got out, thought a minute, got back into my car and drove off when I realized that Russo and Steele starts tomorrow a mile from BJ. The average car quality there is better. More to follow.

Please post more! I live in Montana and on a daily basis all I get to see are 4 wheel drive trucks on steroids. I only wish I could see a BJ auction that everyone here bitches about.

  5. Tom, I've been there and couldn't agree with you more. TV coverage is just horrible and a discredit to not only the auction but to the cars as well. And don't even get me started about the local guys selling their cars on the net and in car corrals who's first words are, "that's what they're selling for on TV at B-J".

    It's still a rich man's playground.

Awesome shots Tom! Keep it up!

By the way, I've never seen these headlamps before. Very cool! What are they?

This was actually one of the nicest Batmobiles I have ever seen. "I wonder if it's the original?"....... HaHaHaHa. The finish on the first one was black flock. If this is really the Futura, it would be nice for the new owner to restore it to it's original glory. Kind of "un-Barris it.

This shot was taken by my wife/photography guru, Carol, using her full frame D-800 for super detail. Photoshop gimmickry courtesy of me.

Thanks for posting some very interesting cars . The interesting stuff is interspersed with so many Mustangs , Camaros , Chevelles , Vettes etc. it's tough to stay tuned for what I really like to see , but such is the BJ scheduling . Being 3000 miles away from Scottsdale , the TV program is all I can hope to see .

  13. Get yourself one of those cheap Vegas excursion plane tickets then rent a car. That's how I did it and I don't like to fly. Hell they don't need to know you're not going to a casino.

  17. I have never been to a BJ auction. Some local rich guys go every year. I would be more interested in an old Ford coupe that had primer paint. They are interested in the 100,000 to 200,000 dollar cars. I am glad that they have some low dollar cars and some high dollar cars. They seem to be making money so they are doing something right.

I do not think I would wear BJ clothes. There is a certain stigma about people that go to BJ auctions.

Through Carol's sharp lens, an excellent '34 Pierce Arrow.

    Hey Tom,
I'll take the front end of the Packard- Daytona over the later designs of Packard show cars like the '' Request '' the '' Predictor '' or that butt ugly beast that looked as if a janitor at Packard got hold of a '56 Lincoln and tried to build a Packard from dumpster pickin's the '' Black Bess "

    Again, thanx for the photos!

Yeah, the above named are probably best view with a well fitting blindfold:D

I'll bite, what does a current photo of the Packard Daytona look like, gotta be better than last months' electric bill?:D

I recall Packard reheated or built two or three other Daytona/Panther-like show cars that had later model production style quarter panels, fins and tail lights.

For your viewing pleasure (?). I live in Phoenix, my electrical bill wasn't that bad.

Well! On the Packard, they couldn't accuse it of being " just another pretty face " These were built in glassfibre, and by the same outfit that built early '' plastic cars " i.e. Corvettes for GM. I think:eek:
