There is still a couple other places to buy Ford parts. Mac's isn't the only store on the block.

Ecklersr's is like a big fish...Eckler's is gobbling up the small distributors as Eckler's keeps growing into a bigger fish. They are more of a whale now, than a fish! Eckler's bought up Rick's 1st Generation Camaro Parts when I was building my '68 Camaro,. Then when I was building my '56 Chevy Del Ray they bought Classic Chevy Parts, and now this. I bought parts from Ecklers in the 90's, when I owned a 69, 70, 71, 72 Corvettes. Back then, they were considered the go to distributor for vette parts. Their parts are quality, and sometimes they are the only seller of the part you so desperately need. So you step up to the plate, pay the higher price, high shipping and handling charges, and sales tax in several states...wherever they have a ordering address.

Hello --Darlene Waldmiller, Marketing Manager of MAC's, posting for Rick McIntosh of MAC’s:
Yes, MAC’s was acquired by Eckler’s as of today (11/1/12) however business as usual for MAC”s and are 120 employees in Lockport.
It the goal of both companies owners to “do no harm” to MAC’s or MAC’s employees all the while increasing our customers satisfaction.
Both Randy and I (owners of MAC’s) are also part owners of Eckler’s and we are not going anywhere. I am very excited, both personally and for MAC’s,
by the opportunity to join the Eckler’s team. We believe that our new combined company will bring together unsurpassed resources and experience to offer
an outstanding customer value and service experience. Our shipping time has been too slow of late, but we are working on that. We have recently
put in place a faster processing method to help move orders out the door more quickly. We believe we will be able to serve all Ford restoration
enthusiasts with the broadest, most complete selection of Ford parts available in the new combined company. We look forward to the opportunity
to continue to grow and broaden the company for our customers as part of the Eckler’s team.
Feel free to reach out to me ([email protected]) or Darlene ([email protected]) if you have questions, comments or concerns
about the acquisition or any customer service concerns.
    Happy Motoring,
    Rick McIntosh

I've had great luck with Joe's Antique Auto in Uxbridge, Mass. for 32-48 Ford cars and 32-47 trucks. In fact just received a new master cylinder, hood springs, clutch shaft, and bushings for one of my 1940 1 1/2 ton stakebeds today. Total shipping was only $15.50 priority mail - got to SoCal in 2 days. The quality is excellant and I always get good advice when I call, whether I buy anything or not. Just my .02 worth.

  10. I've bought a ton of stuff for 3 different Fords from Mac's in the last 13 years or so, I've never had reason to say anything negative about them and I've been pretty vocal about promoting them when I can. I don't know about shipping charges because I drive over the border and pick stuff up myself. I'll be damn disappointed if anything changes.

  11. If I remember right, when I ordered a batch of A parts for the '31 pickup I sold 2 or 3 years ago, for the guy who bought it from me, we got them from Snyder's because even though Mac's is right down the road, the shipping was cheaper from Snyder's - and of course no sales tax either. Parts seemed like they were decent enough stuff.

  13. Damn-I was pretty happy with Mac's and pretty UNHAPPY with Eckler's, ...Lookks like I'm back to Howell's (double damn) and stick to Corvette Central for my O/T plastic car

  14. I have never had a problem with Mac's For parts for my "57.Yes a bit high on shipping & handling, but I always got my parts within a week. And their staff was always there to help.

After reading this thread, I sent an inquiry to Mac's this afternoon asking for a clarification/explanation. I received two very quick and positive responses, one from the Customer Relations Specialist, Sam C., and the other from Rick McIntosh, President of Mac's. Both assured me that the management and the philosophy of doing business were going to remain in place at Mac's in spite of the ownership change and they were actively seeking input regarding the change.

I was VERY impressed with this quick response- just look at how quickly Jamco and some others take to respond after they have your order and your money. So, given my past positive responses dealing with Mac's, their service to me and the quality of the products in general, I will be reserving judgement and giving them the benefit of the doubt.

Time will tell, of course, but for now, I am still in the game.

Don't count on it. I'm a Vette guy and quit buying from them because of their shipping times and costs

I've been buying from Macs for over 10 years and spend up to $10.000 a year there. Yes their shipping is slower these days and their freight costs are high, but their service is excellent, their catalogue is the best in the business, their website ordering much better than anyone elses and their quality is OK. If Macs have a part for $10 it's not the same as a Drake part for $30. I know that and buy accordingly.
This buyout though could be a bi problemfor me. I am placed in Germany and export all the parts there over my shipping agent in Florida. Guess what, Ecklers is based in Florida so now they want to charge me 7% sales tax!!! I phoned them and there's nothing they can do, despite my billing address being in Europe. BTW I pay up to 30% import tax when it arrives here so thats enough taxes. That's a deal breaker for me so either I find a new supplier or a new shipper.

I have had very good luck with Mac's over the last 20 years, mostly model A Parts. I hope things don't change. My only issue is that when I needed small parts that would fit into an ordinary envelope and mail for less than a buck, they would not do it...I got hit with shipping charges.

Even so, I really hope they stay the same.

I was confused when I got my 5 page catelog in the mail. I guess maybe this is why. I just hope my gift card balance remains!

Bratton's did that for me several years ago with a few door hinge screws I needed. I was really impressed by that. Of course, there's always handling in there somewhere. Somebody has to look up the part, pack the order and complete the paper work. Maybe place A has it built into the price of the part while place B has it tacked on as a separate charge-but it's in there.

I suggest you try Bratton's. I have had, and have read, only good things about them. Alternatively, could you have a "partner" somewhere on the east coast not in NY or Florida to buy and ship the parts to avoid the sales tax?

  26. Macs has always done right by me with one exception...

The one thing I always ask for, for Christmas, birthdays, etc. is a gift certificate to a short list of companies, Macs, Dennis Carpenter, Summit, Jegs, and a few more.

Macs has been a total PITA to deal with when it comes to gift certificates.

Maybe they'll step into the modern era in that area now. And by that I mean getting to where Summit and Jegs are...having the capability for the customer to enter a gift card number in the order screen online and having the amounts show up right then and there.

  27. I've been through 3 corporate buyouts. One was super, the other two were nightmares for the existing employees.

In both of those instances, the new management kept using the words "excited" and "team".

I don't know you Darlene, you're probably going to do a super job....I hope so. We'll let you know either way. You can count on that.

Never really had a problem with Mac's - just another place to buy parts. Joe's however is a different story. GREAT guy to do business with, can't say enough good about him. Just wish he carried stuff for my 8ba. Just my .02 cents worth.

  30. I gotta stick up for MACs! Reasonable and fast shipping this year.
