so my falcon will not start unless it is pushed and i pop the clutch ill try starting it with the key for about five mins wont do anything it has spark has gas and nothing but the first time i pop the clutch it fires right up
I have had this problem also. found it to be most often caused by low voltage. will it start with the key if you put a battery charger on it? I had a farm tractor that the starter insulated itself from the block had 5 volts of voltage drop from the block to the starter case.
Did you recently change the wiring? Do you have a solid/clean ground between the starter/engine block and battery?
I wouldn't worry 'bout low voltage...Even with a six volt system...I've found that a dry carburetor accel-pump leather/issues won't let me start a lot of vehicles without priming, first....Will it start by key, after it's warm...?
I am guessing it cranks with key but no start? if so does it sound like a weak crank? where is the battery located? all grounds to block good?
i would bet the starter is drawing too much amperage, do to bad connection, grounds, or wear and that the spark is very weak when the starter is working. there must have been a cranking issue for you to have tried to pop start it.
Probably low battery. Put jumpers on from a known good running vehicle. If it starts then, it's your battery -- bad or not getting charge.
Those falcons came with hand cranks did,nt they. There should be a wire from selinode 2 post , I terminal goes to IGN coil pos terminal. Gives more voltage when starting.
Does the ignition bypass wire on the starter solenoid have a good connection or could that wire be broken or not be hooked on to the coil?
oh no i didnt crank for five minutes all at once and i think i found the problem after i got it started there was a major vacuum leak i fixed that and it fired right up
