Haven't taken any new pixs of the '56 Nomad.. Purple mini bike is an old one. Just had to start with something.
Old Sprinter some guys do build them small. You are just to used to working in a scale that is close to the real thing!! LOL. What is the next sprint car work of art from Tucson? Great start, you have very steady hands Joker, that is one small mini bike. Nice Job.
It's because of the Sunday Models Thread that I wandered off from my wife when she was in the Scrapbooking Section at Hobby Lobby and headed straight to the Car Models Section a couple of months ago. There, I found and purchased K.S. Pittman's '41 Willys Drag Coupe kit by Revell. I just finished it and am real pleased with the way it turned out. This was the first car model that I've worked on since I was a kid (and saw K.S. Pittman race at National Trail Raceway during the "Gasser Wars" of the mid-late 60's) and now that I'm "retired" (I hate that word Because I'm as busy as I ever was, maybe more so) it won't be the last!
Cleaned up a few of my display cabinets this week and brought out an old 57 Chevy model I built around 1960. Along with my brother and our buddies we used to watch some figure 8 racing on Saturday afternoon TV. The racing was more like a demolition derby and looked like a lot of fun. This inspired us to create models that looked like the race cars. I used the old hot knife method to shape the car which always ticked my dad off when he would come home and find the house smelling like burnt plastic. I would scrub the same kitchen knife I always used with an SOS pad but it never really cleaned up. Got rid of all my plastic models over the years but for some reason I kept this one. Glad I did. Lots of cool memories especially of my brother and it has always been a nice conversation piece.
Nothing new from me this week but i did just order the re-release of Ohio George's 33 Willys! Can't wait to get my hands on it!
Cool stuff in all sizes this AM! Six-Shooter, you picked they right kit to start your comeback and the results are first rate. A friend a of mine refers to the Revell Willys gasser kits as "shake 'n' bake" kits - they're so well engineered that they almost build themselves, you just put the cans of paint and a tube of glue in the box, replace the lid, shake, and out comes the completed model! Here's something I just finished yesterday, Based on the AMT '51 Chevy Hardtop with a Revell Parts Pak SBC and some Modelhaus white walls, it's a 60's style customized street rod:
I did some reading up on that kit from the: Model cars Magazine site.... The guys said that this kit is one of the best... I might get one once Hobby Lobby or Michael's start stocking them on the shelves... Got my 40% off coupons dailed in my cell phone....
I hope so i been wanting to build this kit for a long time! I might end up grabbing a 2nd one just to hang onto.
