I know this has been throw around a thousand times, however, on a 54 Chevy to pull the engine and transmission, can you just loosen the collar on the torque tube while leaving the pivot hosuing attached to the transmission and pull the engine and trans ? or do you have to lossen the collar and remove the bolts and slide the pivot housing back and split the u-joint connection???

Loosen the collar,..Slide the slide the housing back, and take the u-joint apart.

Just pull the engine and trans as a unit and the tube will come out of the pivot housing.

You will 99% sure when you go to put it back together you will end up taking it apart anyway.

I dropped the rear, springs and all, and pulled it right out of the trans.
