We need a 50s Pontiac thread. I think this is the most I've seen photos of in one place on the web! Well, ones to my taste anyway.

original straight 8 had a cracked head but I found a NOS replacement.

also in the midst of doing a real old school, as-traditional-as-possible, bag job.
running static rear, bagged front, on a 6-volt system w/belt driven compressor.

    few teasers:

semi-truck rubber springs in the rear, full static:

slam-specialities 6" air springs...only thing newschool about it:

Can you tell me more about these? I've never heard of solid rubber springs before, what are their application, where do you get them, how tall are they? Ride quality? First I've ever seen or heard of them.

^ not sure how else I can say it...semi-truck, literally...aka big rig.
got them from a truck supply house of course...same with the switch we'll be using.
it rides firm, but it's hardly complete, so i'm not really ready to give my full review/info.

I'll have more photos of the build & final impression once complete...
just wanted to post up some updates.

    here's ~ride height:

but 2-door sedan & sedan coupe are synonymous from the looks of it

I know, but look on your link...the two cars are identical.

    what differs between the two?
    2-door sedan vs. sedan coupe?
other than the two-tone, I don't see it...

    4 doors were sedans.
2 doors were sedan coupes unless they were a Catalina hardtop or a business coupe.
At least that's what GM called them ;)

^ it says two-door sedan right there on the brochure too brother! (see left st. claire blue)
haha, that's what I'm saying...I own that brochure myself in original print, it's identical really.
...think it's just another way of saying the same thing, or a typo.

Sedan coupe has smaller rear window and longer trunk.
We've got the 2 door sedan too.

    ^ nice eye/info!
mine is definitely the two-door sedan.
glad too...the trunk lays lower. never liked that big hump you see on alot of similar chevy's as well.

car is REALLY coming along...I'll be sure to get pics up by the end of the coming week.
    ...then it's off to interior.

just wait guys...added some nice kustom touches and it sits even better.
when I'm "done" with it, it'll be a true mild custom driver.

p.s. I'm currently having my original '51 hydra-matic rebuilt w/'54 guts including the passing gear! can't wait to get it back on the road.

with resealed side covers & a brand NOS HC head, this thing is ready to cruise the coast!

Nice looks sweet.. Like i said before, im jealous of the starting product. Musts be nice to just add things here and there to an already beautiful platform.

Curious which wheels or wheel caps those are that you went with? I cant tell if they are new wheels all together or just new caps? I added bullets to the factory sombrero caps on mine.. but then again im cheap and poor
