Removed body from frame and installed front end...and made a mess of the workshop in the process.

Well the weekend isn't over yet so still working but
Yesterday I ventured out into the frozen prairies and bought this car:

Speedo shows 80,000 miles on the dot and she's all there except hubcaps (might be in the trunk)
as well as the steering drop is missing (I might have one in the spare parts bin).

The good news is that she still has good ol' high plains Saskatchewan air in 3 of the tires!
-The Motor turns over by hand and all holes are plugged (it's a dry motor).
She will need a new passenger side window as well as pass side windshield.

Apparently it was stored inside for most of it's life up until a few years ago.
-I'm under the impression that it doesn't deserve such terrible treatment.

...Hopefully I will have it home by March and cruising shortly afterwards.

Yep it's a Fordor but Fordors need lovin too! :)

made the final preps. in anticipation of a truckload of building materials to be dropped off soon. Yep...The foundation is in, all backfilling done, and the area cleaned up. Thats right ladies and gentlemen, you heard it right here. I'm getting a garage.
I've been waiting a long time. And as instructed by someone here on the HAMB, I designed it large and made it bigger.

  16. We did a good bit of work on the 54 pontiac, we got the brake shoes sent out for re-lining, and ordered new wheels cyls for the front, worked on the wiring and got the headlights working, as well as the tail lights, now we need signals. I ordered some spark plug wires for it, and put in new plugs, I tried greasing all of the fittings on the front end, and most took grease. I found the rear Pontiac emblum in the trunk and cleaned it up a bit, and installed it, looks more finsihed, but its real pitted so hopefully well find a better one. I also wire wheeled and painted a panel that goes infront of the rad, that looked pretty beatup and oversprayed green. Then we took out the horns and are currently working on getting them going.

    Lots of little things...

Made some space in my storage shed so I can store body parts off the Essex. Time to buckle down and get some work done on the beast!

I took down all the outside Christmas decorations today. Hope to start working on my '49 this week. I sent off my registration for the Roundup a few days ago, so I better get to working on the thing!!!

Working on downsizing the collection of stuff, listed auction stuff there, and listed stuff in the HAMB classified section. This exposed more floor space in the "office" so I can install more salvaged oak flooring. Moving oak flooring stored in the basement makes more workshop space, this could cause progress to be make on the Roadster or Lyndwood. Bob

  21. Re-wired my distributor and built some new red see though plug wires after melting my clear set on the Coupes engine break in!

Now she is ready for the GNRS trip :)

I really like this ugly duckling! -She's got carasma!

One thing though, Those sealed beams Have to Go, they look out of place on those big curvy fenders.
I think original Lenses and reflectors are available new, if not I'll hunt down her original equipment through swap meets/epay until she appears original/correct.
Personally, I feel there is nothing like the glow of old Ford headlights.

Things like door panels and upholstery I can fab myself (seats are decent but door panels need some sprucing up).

-Can't wait to get here home!

Worked on the La Salle getting ready to paint. Wiped down everything... frame, engine, trans, suspension. Then got tired of my painter buddy yelling so bought him a jug and said "see ya Monday afternoon"

Finished the hidden stereo in the gutted 8 track player in my 55 Ford convertible and removed the front seat to install new foam and possibly reupholstered if I can find the material. I can get ready made covers but I want to stitch it up myself and I am glad I had a extra seat to install so I dont have to rush the seat repair.
