No I wish. The car had an inline six in the early sixtys and then was put away since. I will be putting a flathead with a 39 trans in it.

Do you have any closer (better lol) pics of the repaint? Are you going to do a similar logo on the sides to the one that was on it before the paint?

My son won't believe me it's the same car next year at the DD Reunion!

I used the same flame design as before - I saved the stencil and also used it when I built my new car so there is a common thread there. Somebody suggested I don't put the sticker labeling back on the car - it looks too modern. Point taken. So I will hand letter it at a later date. See you at the drags JK!

 

I Just finished going through this thread from begining to end for about the 6th time hoping to see my car!


any of you mid atlantic guys have pics from the 60-70's?? I've got a cut down 32 that the last registered owner (from Delaware) said he got as an old drag car. it was channeled, painted red with a bolt on windshield added after they cut the roof off of it. it had rear fenders.

so, it looked kinda like a cabriolet but with no upper door hinge. it still had door handles but the doors were tacked shut with tube welded across the top. guy told me it was powered by an injected sbc (don't know if it was factory injection or hilborn) which he put a 4 barrel intake on. had swing pedals with chromed master mounted to a flat firewall. had a cool full width stainless insert that fit inside the 32 dash. had a greenline speedo in it too. my title says it was built in 1960


it's the car in my av.... which now sits on top of the rails, stock firewall etc.

An aquaintence has begun the resurrection of this car and we need more pictures as neither of us have any with it in race trim(with an engine). He had heard it was in either National Dragster or Drag News in the 60-61 time frame. Not sure if the car belonged to Doc or Bill Stauffer at that time. Can anyone help? Much thanks in advance!

 

Wow! I have been looking for pics of cars with 1/2 of the engine stuffed under the cowl for months. I would find 1 or 2 here and there. Then I stumble on this thread and VIOLA! a ton of them. Thanks guys! I got what I needed.

My first race car.
I traded a Weiand Drag Star with 6 92's for a 327 block and some hump heads. Wish I had that to do over. But the tunnel ram and Holley's were far easier to make power and tune. At any rate........ we were all kids once; Tom S. in Tn.

I was able to get the original pictures taken the day I brought home the Doc Eiland car onto a cd, here are some additional pics of the car. In one, you can see how much the rear had been narrowed and wheelwells tubbed to accomodate those M/H Racemasters. I hope these details can help others recreating this great era.(No, not the 80s style we were sporting, the car)

Garsh damnit that car is badass....flow with function.

 

I'm guessing the tail lights were so the car could be flat towed? No headlights, and I'm betting that by the time the car evolved to this point it had been off the street for awhile....

 

I agree, been a big fan of Tony Nancy cars forever. He always built cars that were a step above most the rest for any given time frame if you know what I mean by that.

I love stories like this -- what a history and family treasure! There had to have been a lot of work done to put it back on the street.

 

That Nancy car is the first old hot rod I would like build a replica of.
