  1. Granted but isn't that why hoods have hinges? HRP

Sorry to be telling you to cover up that great looking flattie, but that's my opinion.

If you're absolutely set on showing off the engine but want to keep the lines flowing you could mold in the stock hood and pancake it with a smaller section that would let you expose the engine itself instead of the whole area.

Or you could do the Motorama bit and put a Plexiglass window in the hood...

  6. Hey, it's your car. Do what you like. That's what's so fundamentally cool about rods and customs.

On a shoebox, unless there's a blower sticking up, no. However, I do like a '40 that's hoodless.

i vote a hoodie! but damn.. what a nice engine and engine compartment.. beautiful car buddy!

  10. I voted to put a hood on it. Either way.... put a longer fuel line to the front carb, need some pinstriping to break up the inner fenders. Very nice looking engine compartment none the less.

" It will never really look finished or flow right without a hood" You answered your own question perfectly.

    Why wouldn't you run a hood?:confused::confused::confused:

  13. haha! don't tempt me!.

well, we are at 90 percent yes for the hood going back on.
i appriciate all the input, and positive feedback alot!

it think the whole "it's your car, do what you want" thing only goes so far.
sometimes it's hard to see the forest through the trees.
that's why i posed this question, to my peers whom i respect.

It looks great the way it is , but it would look more custom with a hood.BUT it all comes down to what you like ,You have done a super job on that engine compartment

Very nice shoebox, my 2cents, both ways, love the hoodless look, but the lines would really look good with the hood. Run her both ways, attach it so it can easily be changed. Maybe road trips with the hood, maybe local stuff without it. Or the opposite, very nice car!

Good looking engine bay,but if you are planning on driveing it needs a hood and wipers back on it.

  19. i thought about running it both ways, depending on the occasion.
but i think i need to commit.
the car has been in between custom and hot rod for a while.

  20. thanks, i've driven the car like this for five years.

if you reinstall the hood and use the original latch, the hood may come back off on it's own:)

  23. I don't want to vote put the hood back on with the comment about how it looks without it but I definately would put the hood back on. Cool car. Beatiful engine.

i will definitely rework the hood latch!

You should always do what you want, not what someone else thinks, but its OK to get others feedback. I can see why you would want people to see what is under the hood... its cool! If it was mine (I wouldn't mind if it was;)), I would put the hood on, drive the hek out of it, take it to cruise-ins, and then pop the hood for others to see what lurks behind door number 1:D There, car guys will appreciate what they see and these are the only guys that really know what they are looking at anyway ...robber

  27. Build a little bit of a hood.
So that it covers the core support and looks like it ends the fenders. A big u ish shaped opening
That way it will look finished and still be hoodless. Fits in with the custom theme too.
