Is there anything that goes behind it? Am I missing a piece that goes between the dash frame and body? Thanks guy!

should be a piece of wood that goes from pillar to pillar with metal brkts that tie the 3 pieces of wood together. The dash screws to these brkts.

If you go to autowood.net there is a diagram of the hinge pillars and the windsheild cross bar , maybe that will help .

A shot from below and up top. Hope this helps. These are 1937, but 36 should be similar.

  8. Your photo is kind of dark so I can't tell what I'm looking at. It's been a long time since I had my '34 but if I remember correctly there is a wood cross piece under the dash that goes from windshield post to windshield post and the dash fits over this piece. The details are fuzzy but I'm kind of thinking the dash sort of hangs over this piece. I don't remember there being a gap though. Can you post a better picture?

A better picture would help. I'm not sure what you are looking for either. The 36 had a piece of wood that went between the door posts to the upper part of the cowl, but I think that the dash hid it. The 37 was all metal, no wood. I'll post a picture of our 36 dash tomorrow.

Here is a couple of pictures of our 36 Chev low cab dash. The lower w/s frame is the same as 37/38, so Black Primer's pictures would be the same. The pictures that you posted it was hard to tell what is going on, but it almost looks like your dash is too low.

This picture is with the w/s shut

This picture is with the w/s opened about an inch
