Does anyone know of a good source for Y block water pumps? Looking for a 1955 F100 unit. None at: NAPA, Macs, Carpenter ... Thanks for any help.

Thanks for the replys. Rock Auto didn't list one for the F100 but Auto Parts Warehouse listed several for the different size Y blocks. Google to the rescue again - I figured the popular Ford sites would have them. Much easier to get flathead pumps!

After more internet research, it looks like the 1955 F100 water pump part # is: B6T-8501-B. The only source for this part # was Little Dearborn Parts. None of the above sources seem to have this part #, including the earlier site I listed. Does this info seem correct?

Try National Parts Depot. I don't have one of their early Ford pickup catalogs with me at the moment, but they carry a LOT of parts for 1948-96 Ford pickups, including engine, chassis, interior and restoration parts.

Those 54-55 freak parts are hard to come by. You can send your pump out to get rebuilt. Most parts stores can send them to their supplier for rebuild. I know the Auto Value stores can. Or contact Arthur Gould rebuilders, they can fix you up.

I think I have a couple of NOS kits. Srill working on which of these kits are Y-block amd which are for the early FE's. Should not take me long to figure it out if they are listes in my quick reference. If not I will have to go the long way around and cross reference and look in the old NAPA books. Rod

They do show up on ebay but finding the correct one can be tricky. As 'Skidmarks' posted above, this is the high fan mount type (I think?). So Henry used several configurations. I hope to keep it Y block - gets lots of advice to go newer sbf or even sbc.

If possible, go with Airtex brand,.....You only ever buy one,..because their warranty is 100%. I went thru a few of them, on my 6.9 Ford diesel...... I just took the old one to the parts emporium, and got a replacement, no questions asked. I hope that still warranty them like that....

1954-55 were the only years that had the high mount fan. That pump has the two slotted bosses on the top of it, for fan belt adjustment.

Here are some pix of the leaky water pump. Is this considered a high mount pump? Maybe this is not the correct pump for a 55F100 Y block??

If it is a true 55, then it takes this pump kit. Rod

  17. Regular car pumps can be found through most any auto-parts dealers. The high mounts though, I am pretty sure are kind of rare. Also one should note that '54 pumps (and maybe '55 too) would be different than later pumps for the sheer fact that the timing cases are different.

I looked in my book before I posted the pic's and this pump rebuild kit is for the 54 and 55. I also have 3 of the pump kits for the later pumps. Rod

I changed one on a 55 Mercury 292 last weekend. The pump was ordered through Carquest for $50 something dollars plus exchange.

The casting # on this pump in the 55 F100 is 5750799. Sure looks like a passenger car pump - could the fan mount be in a different location on the truck?

there is someone in the phoenix az area that specializes in rebuilding obsolete waterpumps, his phone is 623-205-4482 if you can't find exact replacement

  22. It could also be that someone had just put a regular car pump on it (again, I don't know if they have different part numbers).

You can just throw a car pump on it and see what happens? May want to take it off and bring it up to your carquest or napa (or local parts house of your choice), to match it up.
