    Wow...Looking good!

Some more of Jo's handy work. Since this car was chanelled, the factory body braces were hacked out years ago.

Jo fabbed these up to replace the the factory supports.

He then added a few additional supports.

A shot with the bulkhead in, the tank mounted and the supports in place.

The big temporay support needs pulled out, but you get the picture.

Ryan is coming to get the body this weekend. It's going to Cincy for paint, while Jo finishes up the fab work on the chassis.

I should have more updates over the weekend.

I like seeing options besides the originals for those who need to make up braces themselves.

While the body is at this stage, pay attention to the area where the deck lid bolts on. Mines been painted for a few years, and has a stress crack on the left, right where the hinge pin attaches. It wasn't obvious when it was in bare steel, but I now have to reinforce it.

  7. Great info. Thanks for the tip.

What about that rollbar? It just seemed to show up in the photos. Is it just welded to the subrails and are you planing more tubing? Maybe I just missed the install. This whole build looks great. Make me want to get started on mine..

  11. .

The roll bar is more or less just a main hoop. It is tied in to the rear body braces and into the sub-rails in two different spots, but isn't a legal roll bar. It is what it is.

Lots of progress is being made, but not a lot that shows, or that I have decent pictures of yet.

While originally the front frame was going to be pinched and bobbed in the Doane Spenser/Rolling Bones style, we have reconsidered and are doing something a little different. The frame will be pinched some, but the horns will remain but are modified to give the car a unique and streamlined look. The car will be using a torsion bar front suspension to match the rear. I'll share more as we get further along and iron things out a little further.

After pinching the frame, Jo fabbed up the the motor mounts. He did some creative recycling on the motor mounts, While I'm sure something like his set-up has been done before (what hasn't), I've never seen it. Again, I'm waiting on a little more refinement and some better pics before sharing more.

The body is off to Cincy for paint as of today. The next time I see it it will be wearing a nice shiny black coat applied by Ryan Schon. The dude does some nice work and I can't wait to see this thing after he is done with it.

Here is a little more progress I can share now. The signature JoKerr pushbar has been fabbed up and is looking good.

Nice, I love the push bar.
We shortened my front horns 2", and took a pie cut on the profile, so its thinner, and lower than the original. As evidenced by your car, the devil is in the details.
Happy New Year, and may this be the 'Year of the Finished 5W's'.

Oh yes, and vee'd the spreader bar to match the vee in the grille.

Alfin32, I have followed your build and just spent an hour going back over some of your olds threads. Hopefully this is the year you get it done. That thing is amazing!

Texted Jo a little while ago. He is hard at it. Body's staying another day before going to paint.

    Happy New Year!

    A couple of new pics...

And what he's working on as we speak - the Halibrand peek-a-boo.

Don't know why, but I can't see any pics on this thread. Apart from the small pic at the bottom of each op post.
I know there are others in the same position, anyone know why that may be?

This is a great build, so many cool details.

I think I would drill the spreader bar and have fairly simple tail lights...but it's not my car, sadly.

Tried numerous things kicksy, to no avail.
The only thing that did it was downloading Google Chrome!

    See em now!!!!

I hope it was worth it Rockit!

Dusty56, I have both a solid and a drilled spreader bar and a few different tail light options I'm considering. I'm confident we'll get it right. ;)

I hope to have some better update pics to post tomorrow

I have no doubt about that. It's all personal choice (that's hot rodding, right?). I'm pretty sure that my rebuilt A won't appeal to every one.

I'm looking forward to your completed build...gonna be one of the coolest out there for sure

Thanks for following along Dusty56 and everyone else who is keeping tabs on the build.

The latest update is that the body has left the building...

My custom made 18" rear wheels also showed up today (only about 8 weeks late) so the tires should be mounted for mock-up soon. Better late than never, I guess...

I should have some more pics tomorrow

Lots of updates, but not a lot of time to post them now.

Here are a few update pics.

Motor mounts roughed in. Still need finishing and correct style bolts...

A little creative recycling on those mounts - name that part.

And one up-skirt shot when she was headed out for paint

From a deep channel with no floors to this. You've come a long way baby!

I'll try to post some updates this weekend when I have more time.

since the battery is in the trunk, is the hole in the floorboard for the master cylinder?

  29. .

Yup Chris, the front hole is for the pedals the other hole is for access to the master cylinder.

The battery is located behind the drivers seat and the EFI controller, MSD box and fuse panel will be hidden behind the passenger seat. The gas tank has been handed over to Josh Shaw for a little paint and detail. I think a local guy like you will get a kick out of how the tank will be lettered up. Hope to see you soon.
