I bought this machine last year and did a little work to make it more reliable. Recently I came across a decent amount of body pieces for it and started on that part yesterday. First was the new grill. I managed to snap just about every bolt during removal including the studs on the directionals. I'll deal with that later, it's arm-out-the-window-directional season anyways.

I also removed the pan behind the bumper and hammered a couple dents in to wrinkles.

Is that a re-pop grille? If so, any fitment issues?
    Nice project.

That's starting to look pretty good. There are guys on here who would think that the old grill is in prize condition. I used pieced from five grills to make up the first one I had in the 48 back in 1973.

  6. Looking good! I'm working on one of the bigger AD's myself. A 3800 panel. Have fun!

It is, and it fit perfectly!

Send me your address, it's yours. A couple of the horizontals are straight yet.

I didn't look for these parts. A guy has been stopping at my place regularly since I got the truck trying to sell me these parts. The price was right so here we are.

The new grill looks so out of place with the shiny paint but I'm making the truck straight again.

Got some cleaner door handles on today.

Also, started patching the box sides that came with the deal.

This is the most progress I've ever made on a vehicle. Having a work space is NICE!

Agreed. The engine is in such poor shape though that it has a difficult time getting down the highway. 42 is about all she had and was fading fast. Looked sweet though! Felt good too!

3600 has 4.56 gears standard- that does not help your top speed. Jim

It is time for you to find a 261 or GMC 270, 302. That will help you get that boat down the road & to save fuel a 5 speed. That truck & you both deserve them.

I've been tossing around the idea of building a '54 235 similar to the one thats being built for my '51 coupe.

Hey nice work. I have some 3600 green front fenders if you want to come look at them. I have no need as I"m building a 3100 down here in Salem, WI. (not far). You should join the AD group. Those guys have really helped me out a ton. not sure how you find a group on here but i think its under "community" then social groups" look for AD truckers. all Advance Design trucks and topics. wish mine was on the road, i'm jealous!!!!
