Don- The weird thing is that the closer I get the more little things that pop up. Sometimes it just feels like I'm treading water. I'd really like to fire the motor soon..... Talk about motivation. I'm pretty sure alot of my friends don't think this thing will ever be done.
I bought a gas cap from Crafty B for the car. I decided to mount it at the driver side rear roof area. I needed a flat spot to mount the cap so I mad a die set to create a gas cap insert panel. Here is what the die set looked like: I took a flat piece of sheet metal clamped it in the die set, added some force via an h-frame press and got this panel out: I then punched a hole for tge new panel: i then shaped the compound curve into the outer edge of the panel I made and trimmed it to fit the hole: When that was all done I tacked and then welded the panel into place: here it is with the cap in place:
Impressive planning and workmanship. Sure enjoyed the design process too. In the last frontal pic it appears that the steering Ackerman is backwards. Could make it tough to drive. Gorgeous build. Congrats.
