Anyone know a source for just the screw in latch posts that come with the aftermaket aka street rod bear claw latches? I have only found complete kits using Google with every possible keyword option I could come up with. I did find some info that these thing were originally used in motor homes. Mine are late 90s vintage best I can tell and use the T55 style allen heads. thanks
Actually, I think they were originally used on tractors....I have seen stainless ones - I think Stainless Specialties, but try some of the other stainless fastener/street rod parts places also.
Its called a striker post ... http://www.outlawrods.com/index.cfm/page/ptype=product/product_id=104/prd104.htm Stock GM use an allen head style http://www.carid.com/1964-chevy-impala-doors/goodmark-doors-2024412.html
Thanks for all the info. It definitely helps to know the name of what you are looking for ! I found the mother of all web sites for striker bolts and believe I have early Ford Bronco/MKII type based on the T style allen head but mine appear to bemissing the plastic bushings which hopefully accounts for a loose fit. http://www.thefind.com/cars/info-door-striker-bolt#page=15&local=0 Looks like they map to Dorman part #38421 and probably avail at NAPA or Advance and I will check them out first. The stainless ones do look nice though but can be pricey depending on where you buy.
