Looking good ! Still hard to believe how bad this car was and how far you have taken it in the other direction !

  3. without a doubt the best looking 4 door merc I'VE ever seen (in its current state that is). that thing is gonna be so killer when it's done!

  4. The new roof to trunk transition is supreme.

You guys have done this car some serious justice! HR50, I'm glad you stuck with it!

  7. Made a little more progress this week in between jumping back and forth on a few others. Finished off all the welding on the top, Add the back bottom side of the drip rails with a coupe look to them, Replaced so rusty metal that some how snuck by at the bottom of the left rear door and fender opening and cleaned up the door radius gaps. Oh got rid of that ugly power antenna hole on the right rear.[IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

Updated pics of the progress on this project - When finished i think it will be one of the koolest Old School styled more door full kustom to roll on today's roads.

Notice that Rick retained the roof drip rails even though per Rick -- Sam Barris would have not and according to Rick it was not an easy task to match them to the reprofiled rear door window opening.

Notice the rounded bottom edge he put on the rear doors and trunk. Look at the over all profile of how the chop blends into the trunk and the rear window placement to the side door windows. This merc just looks right on even without any type of body fillers, lead or polys.

    Hoping this project continues soon.

It is good to see the updates. It is a transformed Mercury.

  20. It will look great when finished. I hope it stays as a sedan rather than hardtop.

Nice save, looks like big $$$ but it's worth it to save the Merc from what it was.

On an unrelated note, whats the deal with moon discs? They are traditional and were used a lot back in the day, but why does everybody hate them so much these days? I know the original version of this Merc was a very 80's style 50's build, but it seems like the 80's ruined moon discs much like it did scallops in many people's minds. (early style scallops, not Watson scallops or panel jobs.)

    Hey All,

Just got back to the states after a long time away working. I just got off the phone with the best, in my opinion, and since I'm the one paying my opinion is the only one that counts, builder in the world, Rick Erickson of Extreme Kustoms. He has some other projects he's working on right now but he's going to continue working on mine real soon. Rick didnt want to move further until he heard from me, and now I'm back.

So look for updates in the near future.. Thor is sure looking Mighty!!!!!!!
