Well done! I'm subscribing. Not that I'll build anything exactly like it, but it is still very interesting to me, and encouraging to me for what you've accomplished at your age. I wish I had done as much when I was your age. I've got an A coupe in the background, I'll get to it someday, it'll be built with a flattie, but I totally understand why you are doing what you are doing. I definitely like the frame. Keep us posted!
Cheers joe ... Heres a few more pictures as it stands now ... The first ones are of what happened to the paint on my axle ... We sprayed it with rattle can .. But was running low on matte black .. So we did the first coat in gloss and then added a top coat of matte. But for some reason the paints reacted an gone all cracked style .. I personally like it myself. Works been slow on the A lately ! With work and then helping dad paint that topolino .. The model A sadly hasnt been the priority at the moment .. But the toplino's all painted now Without giving too much of it away. Im pleased with how its came out ! Back to the A though .. As i said progress has been slow because of the toponlino .. But weve managed to strip the engine an get a colour chosen .. Kind of a metallic green/ gold colour to go with the army canvas on my seat Posted from the TJJ App for iPhone & iPad
Possibly a tad late but a mate of mine has a 2-litre Cortina motor and gearbox hooked to a later rear end in his Model A roadster-pickup. It looks factory-stock - and sounds it. But goes way better.
That would be a greta set up and I can see it would go as well as it looks due to power to weight etc. and have great economy as well. Although the Diesel in this set up I have no doubt in saying will most likely be just as good.
Its been a while because of christmas an everything .. But i think after this weekend .. The engine'll be ready to go back in the chassis ... Thats the plan anyways ... Glad I found this thread. Nice build, and nice seeing a Ford in a Ford, on this side of the pond. The engine colour looks a bit bright in the pictures, but you'll know best.

Finally got the engine in chassis ! Exhaust's mounted .. Brake pipes are all fitted an installed. Aswell as the handbrake ! Hopefully soon after we've cleaned up all the underside of the body. Painting the repairs on the body .. An then putting a coat of paint in the wheel arches an under the body for protection ... Ive chose that kinda crappy brown you always get when you used to mix loadsa colours together as a kid .. I thought apart from black. It would be the least attention drawing colour ! Diesels are tough to find out here in US. old Mercedes and Peugots or the big 3 trucks. They did a nice job on frame. Would be fun to have a race eng/tranny combo to swap in, like for a show or season, than keep the diesel for the majority daily driving. Keep at it! TP

Got the car in the garage an test fitted the rad for engine clearence ... Fits pretty good really ! Makes the engine look tiny ! ... An also cut a space in the floor for the shifter to come out ... Not really sure how im gonna work the leaverage on the shifter ? ... A longer stick means more travel space needed ... It already moves too much :/ ?? Posted from the TJJ App for iPhone & iPad
Check out the shifter on the post jive-bomber did today. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=766629 there's a trick shifter extension the guy built. Yours would be the opposite way, but the same idea. It's probably easier to make then it looks. TP

The the only problem i can see is getting reverse .. As you have to push the whole shifter down into the casing for it to be able to move to the left ? But there might be a way round it ? Posted from the TJJ App for iPhone & iPad
after whats felt like a million hours of messing about !! we've finally sorted out the obstacles in the way of letting us progress with other things .. we've got a smaller alternator because there was no way the original one would fit in the opening for it ... the only thing that fitted easily was a 40 amp one thats designed for plant machinery of all things !! .. as it shows ... a smaller one was definetly needed !! and then the shifter ! .. i always said it had problems with being really sloppy an near enough impossible to get into reverse .. well we found the issue the like saddle part on the bottom of the gear lever had pretty much worn its way through the shaft ! ... so we've replaced that with a brass saddle that shouldnt do the same also took a even further step and bought a whole new short shift gear lever aswell just to counteract the leaverage of the longer stick it'll have im over the moon with how just the new stick and selector shaft end has transformed the whole gearbox ! changing gear is hardly any effort *easily done with just a little finger... and everything just sounds like it clicks together like reloading a rifle or something ! before all that i got stuck in the middle of the street for about 10 minuites sideways doing a 3 point turn because i couldnt get it into reverse !!
