Hey what front suspension are you guys running? I've thought about mustang ii and keeping it stock, just replacing everything with new? And disc brakes! Just a driver, but I want to be able to drive it anywhere. Thanks!

Pictures of my 1964 Mercury Cyclone that I sold regretfully! :(

    86K original miles
number matching 289 stroked to 331, C4, and 3.55 posi rear. All there and everything worked including the OG tach!

Just picked this one up a couple nights ago. Taking some old back roads home that I haven't been on in years. Like my wife tells me, everything happens for a reason. Of course she usually tells me that when everything is going to hell in a hand basket. Nice change for once. Picked it up for peanuts too.

Going to have to store it for a bit while I finish up my father-in-laws 30 Chevy. It's monopolizing my entire garage. This is a good motivator to finish the Chevy at least!

rjones35;there is nothing wrong with stock front suspension on the 60s Ford products! If they were so bad how did they survive 50+ years and on countless race cars in every type of racing?! I have a 65 Comet Drag Car,pulls nice wheelstands on every launch, had 143,000 miles when it was my daily driver, has had two sets of upper ball joints, original upper bushings, two sets of lower control arms[used to be only way to get ball joints],one set of strut rod bushings and the steering box rebuilt last year.I have used the Granada/Monarch,spindle/disc brake setups and also the 66-67 Mustang,Cougar,Fairlane,Comet,Kelsey-Hayse four piston disc brakes, you need to swap the outer tie rod ends, everything else is a bolt on.I use a 66 Mustang dual master cylinder and prop valve. JMO , ROY.

Muttley - I thought that would get your attention! Yeah I guess it was on Craigslist but my wife and I were coming home from her aunt & uncle's and I thought I'd take a different way home. Call it fate I guess. Four bills later and I even have a pink!

It's straight. Got all the trim and the grille is super straight. Dash looks brand new. No interior though. Going to hotrod it so that's not a big deal but would have been nice.

Here is a recent pic of the first Comet convertible I use to own and sold before knowing it was serial #1. It is a 1963 S-22. I always thought the 50,001 serial number was unique, I just didn't know that was what Mercury started their production number with until years after I sold it.

Thanks 65Comet. I did end up staying stock and I'm glad I did. I rebuilt everything and added disc brakes. Its all good! Pretty much ready to go other than engine and tranny. Kinda ran out of money for a while.

I bought the gas cap off of this Comet for $5. It was the first Mercury Man cap I had ever seen. I bought every cap I saw after that-just in case. After 15 years of driving my Comet, I never lost a single cap, but I had three or four extras to send with my convertible when I sold it to Australia.

Here's mine as it sits. Just waiting to trailer it out to California where I am stationed. It's sitting in Wyoming at my parents house right now. ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1378162157.086536.jpg

This bad ass '64 Comet was at the 10th Hunnert Car Pileup. The car looked like it would tear your face off standing still. Hope he brings it to the Iron Invasion this year.

    Pure Joy......

Thanks to everyone for the kind words.

I have only had it for a few months but without question it is one of the favorite cars I have ever owned.
