I'm thinking on building a handmade gauge panel using celluloid as an inlay. They make guitar picks out of the stuff. Anyone ever done this???? Post some pics will ya please. I plan on putting this in my roadster, but don't want it to look too Street roddish. Thanks guys!

Looks great. Never used it but being plastic I'd put it down with contact cement like a laminate counter top.

Stacey David did that on his "Rat Roaster" roadster. He had Jimi Hendrix' bassist autograph it too. Very cool.

Drum Wrap material offers some additional range in choice of composition, color, pattern, etc. and is available in larger sizes if needed.

The car? It was a custom blend. The pick guard? Pearloid white.

You can also buy decorative acrylic sheet in several colors, here's a pearl and a marble from galaxy plastics.

  19. I used guitar pick guard material for mine. Drum wrap material is too thin, and not very UV resistant. It will fade rather quickly. I sourced mine from Stewart-MacDonald. Here is their website:

    http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Pickguards/Pickguard_materials.html

Here's a picture of the finished piece. The material is easily cut with a router. I used the (ahem) billett insert as a template, and routed around the edges, and also the instrument holes. The new faceplate is held in place with double stick tape (the good stuff) and the instruments are inserted from the front and secured in the back, so the new insert ain't going anywhere.
