  4. grabowski's T on 77 Sunst strip and Frankie Avalon's 27 T tub in Muscle Beach Party. I guess it would be the tub as I built a tribute car similar to the tub. Pat

Rolling around in the back of a VW Bus in the 60's was my early view to the world. There were 2 mid-late 30's Chev Gassers that were driven around town on the streets when I was a kid. They were louder then the other cars and had shiny wheels, and cool owners/drivers. I'd trade my Henry for one. Second biggest was the Milner Coupe. I hope to chase a Coupe down someday.

The very first one was Ron & Linda Pruett's "Bad Attitude" 65 Mustang coupe (as featured in the February, 1982 issue of HOT ROD Magazine), followed by the Vern Luce Coupe, Chris Buttera's 69 Camaro, Tony Federline's "Crazy Horse" Altered T, and finally John Buttera's silver Model A roadster.

Harry Bradley's 1951 Chevrolet "LaJolla" When I saw the car in a full writeup complete with Harry's story of building the car along with his sketches of the car and the details, I was hooked.

Seeing the Beatnik Bandit at the Washington D.C. Armory car show in '63 set the course of my life..Roth was painting T shirts for people ..There was also a Vincent Black Shadow at the show and a dragster named 'Nasty Too' that made my heart beat a little faster...
That was the start of my 'car guy' life...

  21. There was a custom called "The Polynesian" that I think was made from a sectioned but not chopped '50 Oldsmobile'. It was painted a metalic maroon or purple.

I have never to this day seen a better proportioned or more beautiful custom!

Saw it 2 years in a row, god help me, which I don't know!

And, it gave me appreciation for young women in bikinis riding shotgun

The original transformers, wild transitions that didn't change back. "Monkey Mobile" was my first thought for the thread.

The first Hot Rod I ever saw (40+ years ago) was a yellow Model A. It wasn't famous but it inspired this.

Without a doubt the single car that made the biggest impression was Gray Baskerville's red 32 roadster. In the early 70's he wrote an article in Rod & Custom featuring his "dated" old beater and a modern Jag suspended resto rod. Throughout that article he dumped on his car but by the end I resolved I would have a full fendered roadster like his. Took almost 10 years and mine is black but it's been on the road now for almost 30 years. A number of other cars have come and gone but I don't think I can be without my 32 roadster. Thanks Gray, never got a chance to thank you...
