This test was published in my "Quicksilver" IMOA Mercury mag. on some bolts that where all chemicaly rusted & the same size.
No penetrating oil = 516 pounds of torque
    WD-40 = 218 pounds
    PB Blaster = 214
    Liquid Wrench = 127
    Kano Kroil 106
ATF + Acetone mix home brew of 50/50 = 53 pounds
ATF + laquer thinner also works better then any over the counter product.

I been doin' this for at least 50 years

one part Auto trans fluid ....one part Mums nail polish remover ( acetone )....

mix up a small amount and keep in a glass jar ..always worked like a treat on stubborn bolts and nuts etc

my dad taught me ( I wonder if his dad taught him , there were no automatic gearbox's around then .....ha ha )

What if you were to keep it on a spray bottle instead of a glass jar?

OK Nicko , the acetone gradually fucks up the plastic plunger pumps in some of those spray bottles .............and also doesnt evaporate in the glass jar

I've always used the glass jar and an old wooden handled horse hair type brush and just dab it on

that's what I figured. I'm going to mix me some up tomorrow. I have a lot of jars for cooking and shit. Good thread.

  8. ok, maybe a dumbass question, but how long after applying this concoction do you let it sit before you try to break loose the bolt or nut?

to post #8 I usually apply some every 10-15 minutes and use a six sided box wrench and keep trying until I can loosen it bolt wit a box wrench. Very few get broken off that way.

I will be starting my Falcon rebuild after the first of the year.

How about one of those old oil can squirters??

  15. squirt can will work for applying but you need to store it in a closed/sealed container. acetone has a way of evaporating.

I've put it in a WD40 plastic spray bottle, and seems to keep in there.
