    Hi Salty, thanks :).

I'm waiting for the bed to come home so I can assemble painted.
In the meantime I sent some parts for chrome plating.

In mid-January I hope to finish the upholstery and the end of April
I would like to finish everything.

For a week now I'm working on the brakes,
I have a problem I can not solve. I installed a power booster/master cylinder (corvette style) with proportional valve, all new,
but perhaps the VLV is locked....

Thank you or your interest :)

    Hi Milo53,

I hope I can explain well, because my English is very poor :).

The brake problem is as follows:

I adjusted the push rod inside which is located between the power booster and the master cylinder,
Brake fluid comes well to the rear brakes but does not reach the front.

    Thanks for your interest :)

have you but a pressure bleeder on it to make sure all the air is out and do you have residual pressure valves on it?

Absolutely beautiful truck with such a keen eye to detail!

Please tell me there is plans of doing something to the color on the center speaker cover.
White, tan to match the gauges, all chrome, ????

To me that is fighting the beauty of the rest of the truck.

I seem to recall that some master cylinders had a sliding valve which moved to block either the front or rear circuit if that circuit developed a leak. Therefore, when bleeding the brakes, you had to be very gentle with the pedal so as not to upset the valve(or rod).
This system was used on parallel twin m/cyls. I don't know if there is something similar on more modern ones.
I have no idea if this will help but, it gives me the opportunity to congratulate you on your beatiful piece of art.

    Hi Milo,

I have 2 valves residual but I have not yet installed.
You think I'll have to put these? How and where should I install?

Thank you so much for your time

    Thanks Davo,

that your information could be of great help.

Is there a way to unlock this master cylinder? (Corvette style)

    Many thanks :)

yes because your master cylinder is on the frame the fluid will drain back down so you have to have the residual valves on there. disc drum you should have a 2psi for the front and a 10 psi for the rear mount very close to the master cylinder. i suggest if possible mounting them on the frame lower then the master this will keep the system primed so you dont have a long pedal. hope this helps.

I did not know of this difference in pressure between the front and rear..

Could fit in this position for the residual valve? Is sufficient
    install only one?

blue is normally the 2 psi valve which is what you need for the front. in this picture it looks like you would be putting it on the rear line which is not what you want. you may not need to run one for the rear if the master cylinder you are using has one built which some do, but if not then yes you must run 2 valves. if you have the space try putting that valve between the mater cylinder and the combivalve on the front circuit.

This truck is looking AMAZING! Good on you for building such a clean rig.

Milo and Davo are on the right path, but I have a couple questions about your brake system install. First, did you bench bleed the master cylinder before installing it? It's a common mistake that guys make. It has a tendency to create a problem like the one that you described. Second, in my experience, I can't recall ever seeing a 'stock type' proportioning valve used in an under floor installation. The way I've seen (and done, for that matter) this install is to use the two pound (for the front calipers) and ten pound (for the rear cylinders) check valves installed near the master cylinder, with an adjustable proportioning valve installed in the line to the rear brakes ONLY. I honestly have never seen these 'check' valves used in conjunction with a stock type proportioning valve.

Hopefully this info helps. Again, this truck is a BADASS!

Hi hotrodscott, many thanks for you help.
    I answer your questions :);

    - did you bench bleed the master cylinder before installing it? Yes, i did it
    - I can't recall ever seeing a 'stock type' proportioning valve used in an under floor installation. I installed the proportioning valve because I thought it was necessary for brake discs/drums.

This afternoon I made other tests and came to the conclusion that the pump works fine
but the proportional valve is blocked and this sends the fluid to the rear brakes only. Tomorrow I try to install another valve and try again

    Thank you so much

More rechromed parts arrived today ;)

We had talked briefly about this earlier in the year, here is how mine is set up. In a couple more days I can tell you how it works out as I am planning on bleeding them out over Christmas break...

I am very embarrased to post pics of my turd after looking at your truck. Cant wait to see it finished...

Great job. I am in the midst of a similar restoration/modification on my '37 GMC Panel truck. I am new to this group so I look forward to learning from you guys. Love what you're doing.

One more thought on the brakes. Make sure the pushrod that goes into the master cylinder has just a bit of slack in it at rest. This allows the cylinder inside the master to complete the stroke. If the pushrod is installed too tight, it won't allow the master to get full volume of fluid to the brakes.

    Fantastic build!
