I have a 1963 Chevrolet Impala bought from original owner... Had something rattlin' around in the drivers door... need help, first with knowing what it is and second I gotta get it back where it belongs... there are no screw/bolt holes in the thing. must have been pressed in or welded...can't find any welds on it tho... it is approx: 6" long and 3 1/2" tall...pix are of front and back side... it has an alpha/numeric stamping in it: "Z46". Look for the note written by the assembly line worker that says "Can't believe you finally found the rattle!"
The car was built on a Friday by a pissed off worker. Just be glad it wasn't a washer hanging on a string in your double-wall sail panel.
that's two reply's about workers...one was prankin' one was pissed...I would have loved to have had a job on the "line" back in the day...1963...bet they made decent money for the times... still hope to find out what the part is...guess i could go pull the passenger door apart and look...but hate to cuz the old original panels are flimsy after all the years...

We had more happy employees than pissed back at the local plant in the 60's. Most of us where glad for the job.
Wasn't it around '69 when GM had that big ugly strike? I can still remember dealerships in Western New York getting their display windows smashed and inventory damaged. I believe it was '69 because I remember seeing a '69 Camaro Indy Pace Car in the showroom at a local Chevy dealer and behind it was a boarded up window.
yes...it was 69....thats the reason the 70 camaro is referred to as a 70-1/2 and why there are lots of 69 corvettes and fewer 70s.
I had a job on the "Line" at Ford in 1967. $3.68 an hour but at 58 hours a week i had very little time to spend it !!!!!!
