I am starting on a 1928 Ford Roadster that I picked up at an auction early this summer. It is a very solid body with the usually wear and tear but minimal rust. My plan is to put the main body on a boxed A frame with a 2" kick up in the rear, no fenders, 2" chopped windshield and laid back posts, 4" drop axle in the front with a 1" drop spring, 2" drop spring in the rear, 40 Ford rear with 3:78 gears, 40 Ford front brakes/spindles, split wish bone front and rear, 49 Ford flathead, s10 5-speed trans, 40 Ford wheels with 550 tires up front and 750 tires out back. That is the rough plan at this point anyway.

Here it is when I got home from the auction:

The latest. Out with the old chassis and in with the new frame. Now I can start squaring up the body and fitting it to its new frame.

Yeah it is real solid. I have always wanted a roadster so I am excited to get going on it. I am hoping to have mine done by spring as well. Thanks.

I her ugley older sister (29) waiting patiently for a teardown or flip. To many irons in the fire. We'll see what happens.

What are you using for reference measurements. I have yet to look for them... I'm sure something is out there. Used a Wescot drawing in the past.

I'm tuned into this build my brother. Too bad it's so nice...they say misery likes company! LOL

I am using a Wescot drawing and I have the original chassis to measure on as well. Sold the original chassis to a friend but I still have access to it in case I need some measurements. I spent some time squaring the body, tack welding, and clamping things before I transferred it over to the new frame so it is pretty square right now.

Haha yeah I know all about misery loving company. This is the most solid body I have started with to date so it is a nice change. Thanks.

Subscribed. Your A is in very similar condition to mine. You're definitely ahead of me though. I've still got to clean up my garage so I can get the car off my driveway:D.

What's the source of your boxed frame set up for AV8? I didn't realize that the '32 K members hung down so low in an "A" frame. Is the K member a repro?

I stumbled across the frame at a friend of mines place. Not sure who did the boxing and kick in the rear. It was just what I was going to do to mine so instead of doing my frame I just bought this one from him. The K member is a Vern Tardel. I was going to run an original 3 speed trans but decided to go with a s10 5 speed for better drive-ability.

Stick with your plan... It's a good one! Looks good! An A roadster is a wonderful thing.

Haven't had anytime to get much done over the last 6 weeks but I am planning on getting back to work on the Roadster over the next few weeks. Hopefully I will have an update soon with some progress.

I am running no fenders. I love a roadster without fenders.

Sounds like you have a great plan - should be a very cool Roadster.
Looking forward to seeing more progress!

Thanks, I appreciate it. I hope it turns out half as good as yours. I would love to take a look at yours in person the next time I get out your way. I will let you know ahead of time and maybe we could catch up. I would like to meet you and see your Roadster.
