When we were kids there was two 55-56 chevys roof to roof down in this creek where we used to play, far down under someone's field. I went to look for them recently, and they were gone. :(
I wish at the very least I had pictures!

  3. I'd kill to find something for that much nowadays. This past summer, any sedan or coupe bare bodies I saw were selling for around 2000-3000, and most had a couple inches off the bottom completely gone due to rust.

Rustyford40 a few of the early 1953 Austin Healey 100's had aluminum wings, front and rear bonnets. They may have even ran an aluminum hood and deck lid but I'm not sure. Actually all 100/4s ran aluminum front and rear bonnets. Saxxon that Healey sold pretty cheap if I remebered right. I wanted it bad! These are 2200lbs from the factory with a iron block sbc you lose over 100lbs over the stock 4cyl. A buick 215 will cut that even more. They are cool cars to mod very light and really slick looking. I kinda went a different route with the desoto hemi. Mine will end up being around 2200-2300 by my guess. However it will be the one one like it when she is done in a few years.

Points kinda mute if it sold but... If it dose have the aluminum panels, and fold down windshield, It could be a 100/4 Le Mans... high on price points if restored as Healys' go. Might be a "BN1" tag on the fire wall if memory serves.

Your right it that one is a bn1, 100/4 originally. All 100/4's had a fold down windshield. They are very hard to find and are very expensive. I have always wanted to see what they would look like on an old speedster. If I put Brooklands on my healey, I may see how the folding windshield looks on my 32 roadster. Pretty hard to verify a LeMans version without the engine, hood strap missing and hood with no louvers. Healeys also had matching body panel numbers stamped, if I remember right, on them so if you are restoring one saving the original panels is a huge plus.

One can only hope that the owners of some of these rides will part with some of these diamonds in the rough

Thats too bad. Hopefully someone adopts these soon.

Someone should make a cheezy commercial with sarah mclaughlin to find them a home.

You guys are getting all sappy over some of these cars that have since been rebuilt. Don't take it so hard. Most of these pics are before pics of cars that yes were once in a field but most of them are nice and cozy in a warm garage.
