E-T Mags new 15 x 5.5 kidney bean , sebring

Here is E-T MAGS new 15×5 1/2” Sebring wheel . It is made in a bolt on version and a true Knock-off version. The wheel is a low pressure casting using prime A356.0 alloy heat treated to T61, to produce a tough and light wheel. The bolt patterns for the bolt on version are 4 1/2” to 5 1/2” circle.
The Knock-off version can be 5 on 4.5” or 4.75” for the hub adapter or the wheel can be drilled for a 6 pin pattern.

 

Thats lovely, but when are you cool wheel guys going to address the need for pizza cutters with vintage looks? Like 15x4?

 

I have wondered the same. why 5.5. is there some regulation that is preventing narrower widths like 4 or 4.5 for the front

I bought 3.5s from American.

 

When Ansen Sprints were re-introduced I quizzed the sales guy about that. He said "almost no one makes tires that size anymore, and the tooling for a limited supply of wheels cost too much".

 

A set of those would look incredible on my 55 TBird should I ever get it to that point.

 

I picture them wrapped in redlines looking VERY sexy!

You can get a 15 x 5 Torque Thrust from Jegs for $170 and American list a 15 x 4 in their catalog so it should be similarly priced. Newstalgia have the 15 x 4.5 Torque Thrust listed at $180 on their site

I would assume its because there the only wheel you can buy new that looks just like the real AR 15 x 4 mags……that are pretty much name your price if you have a pair.
Iv seen new magnesium ones somewhere …. They were $800.oo each. Is that better for you?

everybody wants a wheel made in America for the cost of one made in China.

it is very tough to lay down the cash to produce a low volume wheel. i'm sure they have done their homework on what wheel they can produce that customers would buy.

as for 5.5" wide wheels. they will accept a 145 sr-15 tire or a 5.60-15 tire with no problem. what makes that width nice is that it covers a lot of the ugly brake sticking out.

Great looking wheel, but why not some skinny 4" and some 8"-10"? I have nothing in any of my rides that uses a 5.5"

 

Beautiful wheels-and some of you guys would gripe if you were hung with a new rope. BTW-How come they're not available in 24'z? But yes, 7-8 inch, please, and post prices or outlets.

 

Guys, this wheel, as with most of our front wheels can be narrowed to 3 1/2" and a few can be made narrower. All you need to do is ask, since the market is very small for wheels that narrow. A 5 1/2 " wheel is a good overall size since it will fit narrow tires and wider tires , for those that like to drive their cars with the ability to turn and stop on a damp road. It also hides the ugly / rusty brake rotor, and it gives the right amount of fin exposure for Buick drums. The wheel will match with our Sebring 16" or So-Cal speed shop wheel for a stagger 16 / 15 fitment.

The wheel will also be made as a 2 piece wheel so size and offset can vary up to 15" wide.

We plan to offer some other sizes in the near future, 15 x 7.5, 16 x 7,
18 x 7,
The cost will be aprox. $300.00ea cast finish., with a 3 to 3 1/2" back space in bolt on and should be in stock the end of Jan.

All the wheels we make are hand finished and checked, they are not mass market wheels. We can drill most any bolt pattern and any lug hole style. I recently had a customer that wanted our old UNI-LUG set up in a wheel, so he could fit different bolt patterns, I machined the wheel for them. Try to get that kind of service from any mass market / low price wheel co.

Also for anyone that wants 1 piece cast wheels of widths from 3 to 15" and 13 to 20 dia. , all you need to do is order 100 to 150 and we will quote the project. We can do smaller quantities, but they are usually done as one-off wheels, since the tooling / permanent mould is expensive.

Just got my new 15 x 7 Classic 5, to fit 1963 to 1968 corvette, and clear the disc brakes and a perfectly stock fender and also the parking brake bracket on the trailing arm. Pictures soon.

 

FYI..That $589.00 price is for a pair of front runners as seen in the current Speedway catalog. You can't compare these wheels to the new Americans. These things are just plain beautiful. I had bought a pair of used wheels at a swap and the ET front runners. When I pulled them out of the box I was blown away. I called Scott back that afternoon and ordered the rears to match, realizing I'd never be able to make those old wheels look that good.

 

Ok, I jumped the gun or did not read correctly. I would pay 589 for a pair.

 

Scott made a special effort to get me ET Altereds 15x7 and 15x 5 1/2. He would have made 4,4 1/2, or 5, but I wanted more tire ( 195/65-15) and I could go to 205s. Thanks, Scott. I love them!

 

Those look cool as hell. What is the backspace on the 5.5 width? Will they have the same depth in the front as your 16x6, and all the difference is in the backspacing?

Now you just need to make the 15x3.5 Gasser, and Classic V wheels in spindle mounts.

 

Nice to see that those wheels are available in a 5 x 5.5 bolt pattern. It is super hard to find cool old wheels with anything but 4.5 or 4.75 bolt pattern these days, even at swap meets.

I have bought wheels from Scott and had several custom features added, no problem. And I was on the 3.5" wide front wheel deal and Scott reminded me a straight axle gasser with a Blown 540 and Lenco really needed the 5.5 and matching tire so I shut down "Wildthing" with out harm, and I thought about it and decided that was very good advice! Thanks again Scott.
