    Hi Eddie,

just press the space key between each pic, so if somebody quotes your post in order to refer to something it is easier to delete the pics not needed. don't want to go on ya nerves, just saying! you're posting a lot of nice pics in several threads, don't stop!

    Cheers, Carsten

......... wish I had some good pics to screw up band width with. I've said it before, and if I had it to do over, I'd spend all my coin on cameras and Kodachrome instead of carbs and chrome.

I log on here to learn new things which I continually do, but I sure wish I had some way to demonstrate just a small portion of drag racing flash backs that these Hamb photo's evoke.

These are SUPER, because they are for-real kids and their cars,
buddies, girlfriends, etc., back in 1956-58! I don't know if they've
appeared elsewhere on the HAMB, but I searched the thread and
am pretty certain they haven't been posted here. Been a while,
but as I recall from the site, they're from the personal album of one
Bill Bottorff (often pictured), a resident and student in Winfield, KS,
home of the Vikings. Bill wrote the original cutlines shown below.
THANKS, Bill, for preserving and sharing your high-school memories! :D

Porter Brown's (Mel's Dad) very snazzy 54 Mercury. It was yellow with green trim.
The trim and paint on the upper door was styled like that of the '55 and '56 Mercs.

This is a photo taken in 1956. Back in those days, the teenaged boys belonged to car clubs.

LAST ONE in Bill's series, folks ... BUT, this story ends on a happy note! ;)

In 1958 this was a VERY cool car. I can't remember if Carol and Jack were married
when this picture was taken, but they have been married ever since.:D

[QUOTE=Mazooma1;8413188]there's 57,000+ posts here....you can not expect anyone to know whether their contribution is a repeat or not.
And, honestly, many of these photos deserve a "repeat".
Those of us who are following this thread either forget about them or would like to see them again anyways.
Many of our photos don't come with any information with them, but they still should be welcome here.
It's all about the photos, kids....
This is a great thread with great photos and lots of terrific, friendly people here.
It's really the best thread of all, in my opinion.
These images are what was the total environment of the car culture, so they are all welcome.
Nice work, everyone...you have a history encyclopedia right here....nicely done.

Hiya, Mazooma! :) I respect your passion and agree with some points, but not all. And I'm not the only one who feels that guys can run a tighter ship with a little more effort. Even the best thread (and it is) can be better.;)

I don't expect that newbies should, somehow, know that a pic they like has been on before (especially since the thread, largely, isn't searchable due to so many unlabeled pics). But I do think regulars and semi-regulars should remember some of these photos they or their their HAMB brethern have posted. (I hesitate to show examples just from the five pages I mentioned, but they make one's head spin, e.g., the same Waylon Jennings pic twice in the same day:rolleyes:, same Dorothy Malone pic twice in less than a week? etc.). I do agree that some pix are SO great, they deserve a repeat:cool:, but, IMO, provided some new info or commentary perspective is added. However, some pix have been posted so many times they are simply "worn out" -- five or six times, not including quoting for commentary -- enough. Otherwise, they'd just be duplicative posts, inflating the thread unnecessarily.

In instances where, honestly, no info is available to the original poster, how about at least a comment or a key word? That would at least help make the thread -- to borrow on your word -- encyclopedic. No one expects perfection, but we can do better, with only a little a little more effort.

Most of all, I agree with your observation about Dog's thread being about the "total car culture." I don't know that that's what he had in mind three years, but it developed a life of its own:D, and it's why, IMO, Ryan and the mods have let it go, and grow, even if it does have occasional ups and downs. Can't recall the precise context, but Metalshapes used the word "worthwhile." Couldn't agree more.

Thanks 327-365hp for posting the current picture of that cool "T".
I won't repost it, however if anyone wants to refer, it's Post #57504.
Often when someone responds to a posting of mine and includes the pictures,
I will go back and remove my post to avoid duplication.
Many of my postings are pictures only. I will try to include information, or include
    a comment. Continuous Improvement.
