    Hello fellow Hambers.

It's been awhile since I posted. This summer I sold my 5 window 50 Chevy pickup cause I wanted something with a back seat for the fam.
I recently purchased from a fellow Hamber, a chopped and bagged 1950 Plymouth. I wanted something chopped that needed finishing and found this sweet ride for the right price. I liked it cause it was an odd ball led sled. Not your traditional chopped led sled.
I was hoping that someone had the full history on this car and if you have any pics, post them up. Let me know if you have any info.
Plans are to just make it drivable for now, then finish it off, nostalgic led sled style in the future. From Arizona to her new home in Ontario Canada. Hope your digging this perfectly chopped Plymouth.

    Thanks for looking.

Here is the perfectly chopped 49 plymouth with a 50 grill. This is from a few years ago. It sits even lower now. She is getting ready for a hemi too.

You planning on putting the cool ribbed bumpers back on it?

    Thanks peeps.

Those bumpers do look sick. Love the 49. Do you ever head to Back to the Fifties in Minnesota? I go every year and will be there with my 50.

Looks good! What are your plans for it?

  9. Looks good.
Does it still have the flathead six?
Those can be cool with two carbs, a finned head, dual pipes with long
    Smithy mufflers.

As you probably know, if it still has the original 6 volt system, it will be
    positive ground on the battery.

It has a 305 which is good enough for now. Who knows for the future.

No plans to go all out til next year. New house comes first. I'll just drive the car the way it is. Need a parts car cheap to finish the gutless interior.

Sometimes google is impressive. Here are some pics I found by googling "chopped 1950 Plymouth". Mods look like a perfect match.

I must say, while I was always more fond of the Fords and Chevy of that year, I am growing fond of your ride. Squarish roof and all. Good Luck

I know what you mean. 100's of ford and Chevys of been chopped up and only a few plymouths. Would love to see a chopped version on the torpedo back Plymouth. That body style is killer even stock looking.

Have fun with it. I just get a kick out of people asking "What kind of car is that?" because you just don't see them customize like the thord's and cheby's. LOl

Well finally have time to work on the plymouth. The rear end toast and decided to do a swap. Went with the ford 8.8 with rear discs. I call it project turd cause it needs a lot of work, but got it for a great price. Next will be a conversion for the front. Summers coming fast.

So I finely have time to work on the plymouth. There's lots of work on this car that has to be redone properly before I get it on the road this spring. To start off with, the rear end was stock and toast. Instead of rebuilding I decided to do a 8.8 373 swap. Only problem was that I wanted drums in the end and ford stop using them in 94. Up here in Canada, that old means rusty. Here is a pic of the first rear end I picked up from the scrap yard.

As you can see it turned out to be a huge paperweight turd and wasn't willing to sink a million dollars into it to restore it. Even the clutches were rusted. So back to the scrap yard that one went.

Next I decided to look in Arizona. The land of "what's rust". Found one out of a 91 and got it shipped up, total cost, same as that turd I bought here.

As you can see, this one was rust free. Brand new condition to us Canadians. Next step was to gut it right down to the housing and bring it to a very talented friend who took all my brackets from the ol rear end and welded it to the new one in the exact spots, degree etc. this friend is insanely good as you can see here in the state it is in now. Still have to put it all back together, paint and put er in the car.

Best part was that I needed to the spring perches relocated and narrow lowering blocks, so instead, he fab'd up 3" tall perches to eliminate the blocks. Extremely happy with the outcome.

More of the build to come.
