Just wanted everyone to know that I let THE OZARK MOUNTAIN SPECIAL go today, it went to a fellow H.A.M.B.er from Ankeny,IA with the handle c/h. He will probably do more to/for it in the next week than the entire time I had it. I am looking forward to seeing it run. Thanks Kevin !!!
He's close enough to me to have a match race. Sunday! Sunday! Sunday!... Good luck with your future endeavors, Kevin.
It couldn't have gone to a better home, Kevin is a true drag racing nut, and is big on drag racing history, I know he plans on restoreing it to exactly how it was raced in it's prime, Tim Jones
who me ? im still trying to figure out this camera. you bet il have photos and the car will be ready in no time. this will be a start on some photos no THANK YOU SCOTT! BOB W YOUR ON WONT HAVE TO ASK TWICE
Hello I am so delighted I found your website, I really found you by error, while I was searching on Bing for something else, Nonetheless I am here now and would just like to say thank you for a tremendous post and a all round thrilling phorum (I also love the theme/design), I dont have time to look over it all at the minute but I have book-marked it and also added in your RSS feeds, so when I have time I will be back to read much more, Please do keep up the great job.wishes you all the best
im on the hunt for the orginal wishbones and front axle if possible also if anybody knows who past owners maybe i have randy and brad on board just trying to track down a few pieces. down to axle and wishbones. photos from the past here on the hamb i put those in for wish bone and front axle thanks kevin
Kevin, there should be more pictures of the car and parts they had for sale in the HAMB. At one time they had the trick top loader trans and clutch set in the HAMB parts section, not sure how long ago, seems like 3 years. If you can find those ads you may be able to find owner that parted it out. Good luck, Tom
Underdogexpress has/had the original front end pieces ... he is here on the H.A.M.B. That is whom I got the car from. And he is another Scott
thank you yes dropped off this morning to have the chassis blasted and powdered coated along with anything else that need color.
great day today ! thanks to scott and giving me this lead to fellow member Underdogexpress has all the original front end pieces that came on the car that i will need to complete the car.just need to get a hold of randy for a possible drive line . more photos soon as i get the chassis back. thanks to everbody for there help.
You know Kevin, I am just glad to see this all coming together like this ... when I got the car I said that it was not like owning it but like being a curator of history. Letting it go to you was the best thing I could have done to preserve the history because with me, although intentions were good it would have lanquished for how long if not forever. I am so looking forward to seeing it run at the H.A.M.B. drags, my wife even suggested we plan on riding there to watch.
we have the correct front end for the car just down to drive line maybe a phone call away then she will be 100% back they way it was getting nervous bob?
Nah, not nervous. Very excited for you. Looks like you are doing a first class job on the car. I'd rather race and lose than not race at all.
Kevin, if the restoration of the dragster looks as nice as the inside of your show room shop, it will be a stand up piece. Bob, you may have to pull the Silver Bullet out of the rear storage space while the snow is still high this spring to prep for the "MATCH RACE SEASON".
thanks olds 23 bob you know im just having fun with you. looking forward to meeting you guys and be part of it sure looks like fun and am looking forward to getting out. may have a driver lined up, its the wife she isn't wired correctly but digs it as much as i do,and no she isn't driving. should get the chassis back this week and do some assembling and may head to oshkosh saturday and grab the front end bring it back and have it blasted and powdered .have my wire wheels located and just need to go after those from dragsled.then hit the drive line
chassis is to be here on saturday from powder coating sunday off to oshkosh to pick up complete original front end monday off to blaster and coating center section all fresh paint axles all new seals wire wheels are ordered be here soon redoing the seats tonight after buying new material will have engine (flat head) this week and see what it will need still working on what to use when it comes to the tranny just need parts back should look like new im guessing out of my hands till i get it back then go time hard was done getting built
If my old memory doesn't fail me, I think that when the car was taken apart and the "Trick" trans sold that it was a Top Loader from a full size Ford Galaxy maybe late 60's, not sure. they had done a lot of work on it so the gears would stand up to hard launches. As best I can remember they wanted big dollars for the trans alone. Keep up the great restoration work.
yep randy still has that im dragging my feet on it like ive said i was looking for 5 spoke wheels when came across this so i have to pace myself i have a few other irons in the fire so ....
