ha ha ha haaaaaa........ Skratch has finally made it from instantly recognisable internationally to 'underground'!
Pinstrippers are not always listed on the pinstripping forums or in magazines such has Auto Art Magazine Many just go about their business and kind of live in the shadows never seeking the notoriety or fame that others long for. Some of the Best Pinstippers I have ever met are really unknown to many in the car world for a number of different reasons some of which include tax problems. Some of them do not work on cars, bikes or even trucks which really make them rare. They paint panels for art studios only which makes them a great deal more money. Look at David Hightower's work and you will see what I mean. He does not have a web site but do a google search and you will find his incredible work. I believe that he is one of the best in the world at his craft. Jimbo
You will see him pretty often on Overhaulin', he does some work on that show. We were lucky enough to catch him at Turkey Run a few years ago and he striped two of our cars for us. Not only is he an amazing artist, but a super nice guy too. We watched him stripe our cars while people were hanging all over him and talking to him. He just went on with his work, chatting back with people and never getting flustered. If I had that many people bugging me I wouldn't be able to write my name. We have been hoping he would go back to TR because we have two more cars we would like striped, but he doesn't seem to go there anymore. Here is some of the work he did on my old 23..........if I could have kept the striping when I sold the car I would have. Don
I was too. It isn't just pinstriping but a work of art. I got tons of compliments on the lines he drew on my 23. Here is a video of him striping, and this is exactly how he is.......totally relaxed and conversational with fans hanging on him. He never blew anyone off the whole time. Funniest line I remember him saying was to a young kid who was an aspiring pinstriper and who was asking Skratch questions. Skratch's GF came up (a cutie ) and Skratch said to the kid, "See what happens when you are a good boy ? You can have one of those too. " Nice guy and super talented. Skratch favors the Twitter machine, posts there regularly. He's been doing some work for Bell Helmets, very cool!
I've had great dealings with Skratch.. the engine thats in my A, was one of his. And it was the one that Tera Patrick layed her body all over in one of His picture shoots, wanna come sniff it? Yup bud, its still the same color, and runs great, were out ripping it up!
