    Cool thread.
Ryan, do you remember years ago when i believe it was, Django, who did some T shirts with 'box art' he did with a few members cars?
He used my old 32 and i believe it was Big Rics 40 coupe..and one other car that i can't place.
    They were badass.

the box art from the late 50's through the mid-60's was unreal...cars, boats, planes, Army vehicles, rockets.....gorgeous artwork.
Nothing could compare to those years....nothing

  12. Imagine my surprise when I saw this box! Here's pieces of image 6 at my dad's store:

Thanks Tony. I love model car art!! The other car was Bass' shoebox.

Weesner just did a cool shirt for Dan Collins with some model box art too.

Here was my last box art that I did a couple years ago, for some limited edition Tangerine Scream Tshirts.

  16. Cool.... I collect AMT Trophy Series boxes myself. I eventually have to find a way to display them. I have maybe a dozen of them in good to excellent condition.

Glad to see that you're on the mend. I sometimes think the mental aspect is more difficult than the physical end. Anywho, AMT seemed to have the best 'box art'. That's what gets you interested, but I always loved the Revell Chrysler customizing kit art. At the time I think I was intimidated by all the parts and never purchased one. I wish I had one now( along with the others that disappeared over the years). Don't be dismayed, I progressed to the point that I was able to build some pretty nice models (Revells included). I still have some to build and rebuild (they don"t seem to like multiple moves) and I may even buy some of the reissues when the wife's not looking! Get Well Soon, Ryan

Model box art by people like Jack Leynwood and Mort Kunstler have been a huge influence on paintings that I do, this thread is awesome, hope I can see a lot more I haven't seen!

Off the topic of real old kit art a bit, but I did this T-shirt last week for Dan Collins with two of his builds on it as model kits. He sold out of 'em at Yokohama this Sunday-

I still have the shirts, but no pics of 'em to add to the thread though.

All very cool, indeed ! Wish I had some of my early boxes from the mid-50's back again...and the models that were in 'em that I built that my Mom gave away when I went to college !

  29. Have seen several of the 1960's "Trophy Series" here lately in Antique Malls and Shops. They are asking $15.00 to $20.00 for an empty box in average condition. One in good condition with the un-built model inside , they want $75.00 and up. I sold about 20 un-built old Hot Rod and Custom Car kits earlier this year on eBay and they only brought about $20.00+ each. There are about 100 good ones on the bay right now if you don't mind spending about $50.00+ for each one.

Digging through an attic of my uncle as a kid I came across a 55 nomad kit that he let me keep. I wish I would have kept the box, even though it wasn't as cool as most posted here. I still have that car, I rebuilt it several times. Right now it has a viper drivetrain and wheels, and that was before Rad Rides built the Sniper, so when they did build it, I thought it was pretty special!
