A motorcycle battery might work ... but it depends on stuff like the compression of the engine, do you use the car in winter, etc. Starting on a cold day should be the hardest test, I believe.

2nd on the Odyssey PC925, I used the MJ model which is metal jacketed and easily fits in a modified '32 Ford battery tray. The metal jacket protects the plastic case from impact and keeps the case from swelling from heat.

I bought the Odyssey. It appears to be about the size of a cigar box.

If you want to save some bucks Deka makes a lot of those small dry cell batteries for Braille and the like, can be had directly from a deka dealer if you know the specs you want.

I used an Interstate lawn tractor battery in the Peter Beater for years.

  16. They will certainly turn a V8 over but the engine needs to be a good starter because they won't do it many times before they quit. If you don't use the car every day it's best to have an electric fuel pump because a PC925 will not like turning the engine over so the mechanical pump can fill the fuel bowl.

I'm not saying don't use a PC925 - just pointing out that you make some compromises when you use a battery that small.

Why not run longer / thicker cables ?
Back in the 60s we would put the battery in the back were we could get to it easy

Got a rumble seat back there.. Probably mount it on it's side below the passenger floor board.

  19. Also remember that you can run two 12 volt batteries in parallel if the first one doesn't provide enough power.
