i have a 1962 ford galaxie 500 with a 352 and a cruise-o-matic. i am swapping over to the C6 for the FE motors... i have it at the trans shop right now... however i do not know what flex plate and torque converter i need...should i switch to the more modern 184 tooth flexplate and get a new starter and get the torque converter that matches that?

another thing to keep in consideration is that in the next year i will be building the 390 that is in the garage and swapping that in place of the 352(its just money thats keeping me from doing that now) i need an expert lol

  2. I would go with the later setup. Its hard to find one of those old starters if it goes out.

get the flexplate and starter for a 66-70 fullsize Ford FE. ditch the tractor starter unless you're finicky about "authenticity".

Late flex plate and starter will cost much less than a tractor starter alone. As stated later starters are readily available.

Those early starters are a real bear to change too.
