If you want to hear the PT's at their true original unmuffled rumble, grab a DVD of the old John Wayne WWII movie "They Were Expendable"- wind 'em up!

I worked for a guy for around 15 years who claimed there was no difference in the sound of any V8 engine, they all sound the same, couldn't convince him otherwise, he still believes it to this day and he's been a mechanic/shop owner going on 45 years.

Henry's old flatheads sure sing a sweet song.

The sound of the old gear reduction starters turning into the roar of a big block Mopar is pretty sweet too.

The FIRST thing I thought of when I read the question was a V12 Allison. But I will never have one. Love my sbc's in their range but the first time I heard a 427 Ford as it went thru the gears I wet my pants! peace

I like the sound of my Studebaker 289. So much so, that I often turn off the music just to hear
that big old American V-8 sing to me as I shift thru the gears.

  25. For some odd reason I've fallen in love with the Hurst Olds and 442's.

After that the Flathead can sound pretty mean.

My Rocket Olds didn't quite sound like a long tubed 442 but I liked it...!
