anyone got more pictures and info about this tudor? or any tudor built with a leand windsheild? im about to start a bonneville/el mirage 1930 tudor, power with a jaguar straight 6 from 1952, 1933 front axle, 17" ford wire wheels, and a leand windsheild. maybe a belly pan to? /Martin
Go for it ...pic looks cool. I would set the body on a 32 frame though. If it is a model A body, do it like Kevin Lee is doing his windshield.
Deuce frame not important, to me not wanted. I would cover the bottom with a belly-pan for sure... Now again, Real Racer or Lookalike Street Rod??
Out of curiosity when you say Real Racer do you mean real racer as in taking it to El Mirage to race?
Its an El Mirage car alright. Its just times and rules have changed. But if you are going to build it and bring it to El Mirage be prepared to be swamped by people wanting to know all about it. I'm a big fan of sedans and that one is a beauty!! I sincerely hope you do build it and bring it out.
the plan is to built it so that i can race the car, but still drive it like a hotrod on the street. so rollcage is a must! the only problem is that i live on the other side of the atlantic.. sweden. but we do have race events on frozen lakes during the winter. (and no we dont have polar bears walking the streets) hihihi /martin
that windsheld is soooo nice, kevin lee has done a great job there! 1932 frame would suit nice to, but i cant just swap the frame, to mutch trouble to get a swedish "clear title" then, and if i would swap to a 32 frame i would have to register the car as a 2012 car... sucks.. but keeping the model a frame and make a belly pan would do the trick! /martin
racing at el mirage would be a dream come true! but since i live in sweden i can only race on frozen lakes i northern sweden during the winter. have most of the parts for starting up the built. at the moment the engine and the trans are just mocked up in the model a frame. still have a bunch of work making the 1952 jaguar brakes/hubs to work with the 1946 ford spindles. /martin
If I were going to ice race I would probably do that in a Saab and keep the A for driving around in. I like the A chassis and belly pan plan myself. Title issue or not. I have always been impressed with cars with belly pans.
Here's the jaguar brakes, 12" inner diameter, and the brake pads are 2, 1/4" wide, dual cylinders and of course massive air scoops! Love it Sent from my DROID device using the TJJ mobile app
yes, it´s 1952 jaguar took brakes, engine/trans o some gauges from a 1952 jaguar mark IV, same engine as XK120 and the C-type. /martin
Cool Cant wait to see it,read rule book carefully about contour of the roof and winshield height ext. We found problems with my 1929 tudor that when the contour is changed we couldnt run in comp coupe, and have to run in streamliner.Check our build if you like. Thanks
I'd try to find a slant-front 1931 Model A mordor and get theleading edge of the body/top around the windshield and the door fronts to smooth out the roof a little. That would probably help with leaning the windshield back as well. Just a thought....
i'm going to have to disagree. the header may be, but look at the body lines on the cowl and up the rear window.
Apologies HRP. I didn't realize you are in Sweden. That doesn't lessen the fact that you vision is great. I do hope you get it built and running. Even if it is on a frozen lake. I'm not a person that likes cold. Its in the 50s here right now and I'm freezing. Laugh away. Please keep us updated on your build. I really want to see how this turns out.
Any body have pictures of Fabian Valdez's old 30-31 Tudor, it has the style you're looking for, I think the car lives in Japan now.
OK HotRodPunk, this sounds like a great build thread to me. Sooooooooo.............. where are the photos???? You're just teasing us with a brake backing plate. Come on, give us some candy!!!
thanks! is it possible to read this rule book online? even though the car may never race on bonneville or el mirage, but i would be nice to build the car after the rule book /martin
no problem, dont have to apologies thanks for the positive cred. yeah the frozen lake going to be one cold ride... 50s and you freezing? we got this years first snow! that sucks bigtime! hahaha i´ll try to post as mutch as i can, but im not in a hurry building the car since i´ve have a running hotrod to drive. /martin
Send me your address, and I'll send you a rule book. I hope you do this build, as it promises to be cool!
Here's the jaguar engine and trans just mocked up in the model a frame. I At the moment i've just filled all the holes in the frame, so boxing the frame is the next thing to do. /martin Sent from my DROID device using the TJJ mobile app
