My dad fell in love with Model A's when he was 7 years old, in 1954. He vowed at that time to own one of his own.

The black and white picture is him in the mid-60's with the first one he ALMOST bought. His dad wouldn't let him buy it.

He finally got his first Model A in 1977; when I was 6 years old, and he's had Model A's almost continually ever since.

His current car is a flathead powered coupe, sporting paint from 1962.

My dad had a 61 Pontiac Ventura.....before that was a 52 Chevy, with no reverse!

Been looking for a replacement Ventura for him that is not a basket case and I would not have to refinance to buy. Easier said than done!

My Dad wasn't a hot rodder, but always had cool cars. His very favorite was his 48 Buick Roadmaster. Every Summer we would make the trip from Pittsburgh to Miami in it for a vacation and I remember sitting in the back seat on those trips. One time I shared that seat with a palm tree my Mom insisted on taking back to Pa with her.

My Mom totalled it in an accident with an 18 wheeler in about 53 and I don't think my Dad ever forgave her. This picture was taken on one of our Miami trips. That's my Mom, Sister and me on the right. The kid on the left was a friend I made at the motel we stayed at.

  8. My dad drove a 10 dollar T when he was 14 'till his dad busted him. Built a fresh motor for his 29 2 door sedan in 39-40 and sold it when he went into the navy in early 42.
Rode Harleys when he got home 'till I came along in '48..mom said "get a car I can drive to town" so he bought a 33 Willys coupe..had no starter so they parked it on a hill to get it started.
Had a string of GM cars in the early 50s ....39 Lasalle, 41 Olds, black 48 Pontiac straight-8 torpedo, blue 46 Pontiac coupe with a 6 and then 3 Pontiacs in a row..a black 50, a white 52 and a yellow 55 hardtop. What a beauty! Mom wrecked it so he bought her a super cherry 55 olds and he drove a 41 chevy pickup.

  9. I came home in a 54 Olds Hol 88 jet black hardtop. that was 54 in the mid 60s he drove a 57 fairlane in 79 when he passed he had a 61 starliner red on white on red.
miss him every day of the week.

My dad's first car was a '40 Ford Woody. He said it used more oil than gas. From there he moved on to Porsches and Morgans. Right before I was born, he traded the '56 Porsche cabriolet in for a coupe to fit two kids.
As long as I can remember, he has had a minimum of two Morgans. I am about to get a '35 F4 3 wheeler form him that he has been trying to rebuild since 1973. I can't wait to take him for a ride in that car!

  12. I think he had a Model A but the ones I remember him talking about were; '37 Ford, '46 Ford, ..... then when I came along the ones I remember were; '49 Chevy, '52 Chevy, '53 Ford, '55 Mercury, '56 Chevy, '59 Chevy, '61 Chevy, '63 Olds, and after that, who cared!

Dad's '54. The truck had Radirs on the back and his old club plaque can be seen below the rear window. I still have the plaque.

Westminster, California 1970. This was my Dad's Fastback that he traded to my Grandpa for a '63 Comet. The Comet was then used as a trade in for Dad's '67 Shelby GT 350.

Dad's '48 Chevy pickup. He paid $300 bucks for it in 1971. He ended up trading it for a roll away tool box/tools.

you name it and chances are my Dad had it. Starting with model As and Vickys when he was a teenager back in the 40s to Mercs, Plymouths, Ramblers, Rancheros, El Caminos, Metropolitian, Mustang, Ford trucks, Chevy trucks, Impalas, VW and on and on.............and he would pay like 100 dollars (25 dollars for the Metro and nothing wrong with it. Paid 200 for a 51 Merc convert.) He bought a new 60 Mercury and then a New 65 Mustang. When he got tried of a car, he would just give away to a family member or friend and buy another car.

50's Studebaker and Ford wagons for work. Mum had a 50's Stude. Then a wild hair....he bought a gas guzzlin (even for back then) 9 miles to the gal (so he claimed) right off the showroom floor '57 Monarch (a Canadain Merc). We didn't have it very long!
