  1. That is a 3/4 midget. Post it on the vintage cageless midget thread. Someone there may know something about it.

I would love to see that issue, was it taken in Southern California? I am trying to find any history of racing in Glendale, CA in the 50's.

Awesome. I used to race a Wahlborg, in the late "single hoop" roll bar and "hand brake" days. :)

Just spoted this thread -- My wife & I just donated a mint Rice midget with west coast race history to the AACA @ Hershey this year. The Idea is to start a youth program to get kids interested in our hobby.

Once all the insurance issues get resolved we hope to have them learn to drive it and then have them at race care certification day on Friday @ hershey --Then show it on Saterday .The idea is to teach them the entire proccess.

I will try and post some photos for all to see.

I just bought this QM and plan on restoring it for my son to tear around in. Does anyone have an idea what year and make this may be? I think it has a continental engine with the gear reduction, and the parallel torsion bar suspension should help identify it. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks

Hey guys I apologize from dragging a old thread up but looked like this is where a wealth of knowledge is on these . I picked this up from a buddy and would like to know more about it . I also wanted to know what engines are available that I can put on it as this one does not have it . I got it for 100 $ so I know its a steal and I'm beyond excited to get the project moving . Anyone have any insight ?

Car #58 looks like the '23 "T" roadster pick-up made by K & O Engineering? I have one in my garage loft!

More memories, this was in the 1959-1962-ish time period. (El) Cajon Speedway was an asphalt paved track and pretty fast. Driving it was a handful for a 6-8 y.o. kid....that and lack of Dad's time were prolly why Dad sold it (before I started running it on the streets LOL)

It was baby blue with white scallops, chromed nerf bars and roll bar, and the chromed front axle was a miniature Ford beam axle. Oh yeah - it was direct drive - push start every time...
