a bit on the crude side of construction and the flange angle is way off but this is very close to look I'm after I will try to recreate some in this basic style three oversized tubes, center the same size as outer, short oversized collector not the best for maximum flow numbers but the blower should help compensate thank's Nate, Mark and Jolen
Seeing them sitting there mocked up it appears that the angle of where the heads exhaust outlets is at a much different angle. Its rather hard to picture these headers bolted onto the heads and running inside the frame rails as the would appear to have fit
yes, you may be right and I had thought of that too but that's not exactly what I have in mind.. couple more vague pictures the more I look at them up the more I like them thanks for letting me borrow the headers, they definitely have the look I am after Jolen's got a neat project going, I'm sure he'll put the stuff to better use than just sitting in my loft Your welcome, keep them as long as you need them, just going to be shop decorations so no hurry.
ah hell, now it's starting to grow on me too.. I'll roll it outside one of these days, if it ever stops raining, and get a better look at it.
I agree from that one vague picture. I suppose it may look different in person, but it looks real old timey to me. I like old homemade parts, especially headers on Olds...what can I say.

thanks for the better views. Dang, those are perfect for that build style. They just look the part, and sure don't look like modern styling. I also really like the angle of the collectors, and it gives a early competion look to the motor.

I like it. I was looking through my pics earlier for Olds pipes, but all too early looking. ..and I kept thinking I liked the headers your friend found, because they did really look like "60s performance" for bigger cube motors.
started puting together a set, trying to maintain the same basic style using 14 gauge 2" for all three primary tubes couldn't find any 4" 14 gauge plain steel tube so I'm using Olds oil filter canisters for collectors they are a bit larger in diameter but it's what I got both flanges and starter tubes are welded the first side's tubes are tacked and taped in place the first side is always the easiest the tough part (for me anyways) is making the other side mirror the first individual tubes welded and dressed
