Started the 50 Merc chop

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Leadsled612, Apr 24, 2011.

  1. Wanted to start on the front seat -to-floor attachment ideas today. SOOOOOOOO, I had to back her out to get the doors open all the way to put the seat in. While she was out a quick cruise around the block with my son who kept screaming.."We're gonna die,we're gonna die". It was quite a ride. Glad I have cool neighbors!!!!!

How much did you take out of the top? I am going to be chopping my 50 soon Thanks

  6. hey! 4" in the front on the a pillars and 5+ in the rear...not really measureable at the time. I just kept "snipping" till I got the flow I wanted and the door windows parallel without the peak look in the middle of the roof.

  13. Thanks Matt!! I still remember your one post " you think your done but you never are" LOL

  14. In full progress mode and determined to primer the 50' Mercury the week between Christmas and New Years. I am now blocking with 120 grit and following with 180 grit. It has been 3 1/2 months of filling and sanding....I'm tired of it, however financially paid off.

Looking good. I am in the same stage of prep in my Chopped 51 Merc build. Already blocked the entire Merc twice with 180 grit. Next block is using 320 grit. Lots of surface area to sand.

  24. man, that nice progress. i need to get something done on mine soon.
