  3. This car was a crowd pleases at Shady Side and was poised to do the same thing in Greer,,but a catastrophic failure sidelined the car,,he actually ripped out the center of the X member.

Photo from Shady side not Greer.

There was a short wheel based altered that got crossed up and rolled at the track also...fortunately he was unhurt physically,,but probably needed a change of drawers. HRP

I remember when Porter got that chevy of his, it was a cool ride. Looks like he might have improved the performance side of it from the picture about (tires up)

The score boards were turned off to try and make it more period correct. Also we didn't have them call out the times over the speaker we have found that the real deal gasser look a lot faster than they are. A lot of times we will race at track's and some kid with a bracket dragster will run 4.90s and make us look slow when the times are shown. But with out times being shown the gassers from wall to wall with wheels in the air and slamming a 4 speed the fan's think we are faster than any thing there. But just so my friends here know we had gassers there in the 5.80s with a manual shifted 4 speed.

Thanks for all the kind comments!
Seadog...I wish I could have met you. I love to look at your photos!

Quain is right...they had gassers in the 5.80's all day long. That is fast for these ill handling, straight axle, manual 4 speed cars.

Thanks again for alll the kind words. I had a blast and even got a copy of Australia Dragster magazine from fellow photog Roger Richards, that had coverage of our first gasser race from Greer back in August of this year!
