I have a 2 barrel '56 265 I might put in my Dad's old '32 Tudor. It's in great shape, has the four banger and all original drivetrain behind it. I put a Lion Hi Comp head and 2 barrel 94 on it this year and it made it alot more fun to drive. I like V8s though. I picked up a 56 265 and thought it would make a good period build and not twist the frame or anything crazy. It's a 2 barrel motor, but I'd like to put a little 500 Edelbrock on it with Corvette valve covers and breather on it.
Did anyone make an aluminum 4 barrel intake for the small port 265? Has anyone got one? Or a stock 210 HP Vette one?
I have a 1394 dual manifold, but don't want to spend 2000 on carbs.
    Thanks, Bill

    Check this out,

They have the port dimensions listed, & on this one it has the boss for the oil fill/breather tube in the front. It doesn't have the hole for the tube in it ,but people have used a hole saw the correct size to put a hole in it. I would think that an old manifold could be found at a swap meet for low bucks, or on ebay or CL, or maybe someone on here has one laying around. Good Luck !!

If you end up buying a new one you might look at the Performer EPS with Oil Fill Tube (non-EGR) #2703. I came across it while trying to find a manifold with the old school oil fill tube. Because I wanted to run a set of original Cal Custom finned aluminum valve covers with no breathers in them. That way I have a place to put a breather & a place to add oil. And with the oil fill tube up front I could run the factory breather tube on the back of the old 327. (It's an anti EPA thing.) :D

Find an early cast iron 265-283 4-barrel. That will cure alot of your ills and look the part.

That's what I'd ideally like; a 1956 4 barrel stck cast iron manifold. The casting numbers I found online show a 3735448 or 3737109.
    Has anyone got one?

sure, have several of the early iron intakes. P/M sent. Also have a GM aluminum intake, almost identical to the 56-57 iron single 4bbl intakes (4GC or WCFB), apparently manufactured for marine use. Cast 3923481. Will sell for $200.00. Jay 302.322.1833

Damn, I looked all over their site for one with the breather tube hole in it to show. Guess I didn't look far enough.

I couldn't find it on their web site either. I had to go to the catalog to find it. Then I back-tracked it through their site. Easily one of the hardest sites to navigate that I have ever used.

ALL 55, 265, 4 barrel, and ALL 56, 265 with single 4 barrel, and the early 56, dual quad 265's had the SMALL port heads. 2 and 4 barrel head port sizes are the same 55-56; the combustion size is what varies. Smaller than ALL 283's even. IF you can find an Edelbrock TORKER intake, the first run style of them, they had fairly small ports and would work. It should'nt be too difficult to find a 4 barrel 56 intake, you could use a 55, 4 barrel intake, but those are very rare (I sold the one I had). I do have a single, 4 barrel, 56 intake, and also TWO early 56 dual quad intakes, but not for sale at this time. There was a couple of 4 barrel 265's in the parts forum here, maybe offer to buy just the intakes (one is a 55 4 barrel). I'll ask a friend of mine that deals in 55-57 Chevrolet cars AND parts; if he has one I'll E-Mail/PM you with his information. The is an Edelbrock 4 barrel intake that is a complete copy of the early, stock, 4 barrel, cast iron intakes, only in aluminum, and it's also NOT a high rise type of manifold. Butch/56sedandelivery.

Just looked on that auction site we all know and love, and there are several 56, 265, 4 barrel intakes; most are overpriced. BUT, there is one for $79.95 BIN (also has a OBO offer) thats probably a reasonable price; item # 120988403835, and it's not mine or anyone I know.

Looks like you are hooked up dude. The second thread abut 265 stuff in a short while, I personally think it is cool as they are the origin of all the s.b.c. legacy! Go man go ~sololobo~
