Yes, it's a '67, but it may as well be a '64. Looks like a pretty darn nice job. I'd have to think that this is the only Avanti in the world with satin paint. Good goin.'
I thinned it with denatured alcohol approx 10% and it took about 6 to 8 hours to dry. I've been a lot of fast cars but this is the only 1 that scares the crap out of me. Yes it took awhile for me to convince my dad to paint satin black but I think it looks good.
It's fiberglass. It's my first paint job no need to spend tons on paint. It looks pretty dang good too. I did use ppg shop line primer. I got my spray gun at harbor freight for $50 on sale.
Why did you paint a Avanti with cheap paint?? It deserves a real paint job, it's not a Ford you know.
Very nice work, I'm impressed! I'm using an industrial paint, Gillespie Coatings and Martin-Seniour hardener, I'm going for a gloss finish.
You go wash out your mouth with soap, young man! On second thought...you go get me a switch off that there willow tree. Don't you look at me like that...why, I'll...boy, you're gonna get it...
Acetone or Mineral spirits is what is recommended on the can. Where did you come up with the denatured alcohol idea ?
All yall guys baggin on rustoleum, need to find the youtube videos of Ed Roth talking to VonDutch.. There's eight of them. In one of them Dutch tells Big Daddy that 1-shot is good, but rustoleum is just as good for lettering and striping. Tells me the ole rustoleum might be up to the job.. But what do I know.. VonDad
I painted a car once with Rustoleum Regal Red... Thinned with laquer thinner. Drove it about 2 hours after I sprayed it. Paint held up good for the 2 years I had the car
