    Hi all,

Thinking of building a FED but not sure on the wheelbase either 150" or 170".

Looking for pictures from the side of Feds that come within these wheelbases, will have a full length powerglide, so please no pics of shorty glides or clutch only rails

I'm looking to see if they look in proportion eg. Have a good amount of frame in front of the engine.

Tried search function but most don't have the side on shot I'm after

    Please put wheelbase with pics

    Thanks in advance

Here's some different shots and angles......mine is 225" with a shorty glide and using a 12-14" coupler, so that would about the same as a long tail shaft glide.

Full lenth glide takes 39" between motor plate and axle center of a 9".
    Car in pic is 193"

dreracecar, thanks for the measurements they will come in handy.

anyone out there want to show off there FED and help me decide

  5. I built an early sixties style Dragmaster Dart. She's not an exact reproduction but close enough for me. She's shorter than you mentioned at 123". I built a shorty th350 for her using a 4x4 output shaft and my own rear plate.

Now for reference this engine is out 29" on a 150" wb. A desission you have to make is what type of rear end you plan on using. A Chry 8 3/4 is 2 1/2" longer than a Ford 9", so the minimum "out" with the 8 3/4 would be 41 1/2

One of the first things you should do is order up a SFI spec book as it will guide you to the proper frame design. DO NOT rely on the NHRA rule book alone.

i won't be doing the framework. i will be getting a chassis builder to do it so it will be hopefully sorted. but i have to work out what wheelbase i want.

Fenderless, that's ideal. Do you know what the rear tyre diameter is?

I'll get back to you, as the dragster belongs to a friend:)
When this picture was taken, I think he had 31"x 10.5W - 15".
