  5. That's nice clean sign work. Through the years I did hundreds of car show signs, display boards, show cards, whatever you want to call them, on plexiglas during the winter show season around Texas. They were fun to do when I could see well and stand still and had patience. Most car owners wanted to tell a story which I had to edit.

    I'e always heard and called them Show Cards......made them for cars, entertainers, restaurants, motels/hotels.............most were quick easy money done right in the shop...........Man!, times have changed......I'm getting old.........

    These are cool. But they HAVE to be hand painted. Computer prints/vinyl just look cheap.

    They start at $400. They're done on aluminum panels that are painted the car color , block sanded and rubbed , with the title heading usually in some kind of leaf or airbrush and hand lettered and striped . here's a few more that I've done.

    Great thread.

    Bear, you guys get it down there....that's the best example so far, done in the style, "the way they did it in California in the 60's". Perfect fonts, layout and color usage. They were rarely on plexiglass in those days, mostly on colored matte board. But that's the Look. The best sign painters were in LA.
