I have been a Ford guy all my life but I admit its tiring. The more Chevys I mess with the more I see why so many people use them. The are twice as easy to deal with. Ford changes stuff for seemingly no rhyme or reason.Wasn't so bad back in the old days but starting in the 70s Ford went stupid.

As stated earlier in the thread, it wasn't untill the later years that things started to change. Everyone makes good and bad stuff beit drivetrain or chassis. However, think of hundreds of thousands of uni-lug wheels floating around swaps and garages because Chevy wanted to go with the 1/4" bigger lug pattern
I hate the two speed Ford-O-Matic in my Fairlane but the thing is almost bulletproof. it has 200k+ on it without a rebuild and still works like a champ.....after it warms up.
i,m a sbc chevy guy but i have much love for the ford y-block the look and sound of the y-block are in a class of it,s own .i put alot of miles on my 58 ford y-block (over 165,000 with no problem till a rod bolt let go

no "filter" in a fordomatic. just a metal mesh screen that can (and has been) cleaned but yeah fluid has been changed.
I got started on building my ford engine because I bought a tbird with a 302, i wanted to make it faster so i intended to put cleveland heads and intake on it, make a boss engine... but my intake showed up with no water passages and instead of sending it back i found a 400 and have been building ever since. Dont really care what it takes to get parts or parts to match or fit because i love engines, Fords were just my starting point
