I'm doing some research for a possible project and would appreciate any recommendations for instructional videos or DVDs covering flathead motor rebuild, modification, etc.

TIA for your any and all help.

Hey, Mike, are you wanting ideas for your video or are you wanting examples of other videos (already produced)?

Sounds like a cool idea if you're doing what I think you are :D ....sell em' like hotcakes!

    Mike,

I'm not aware of anything, but I haven't been trolling the catalogs for that type of stuff in a long time.

I'd like to see one concentrating on the following subjects.
    • different and stock dizzy adaptations
    • different and stock tranny adaptations.
    • tricks concerning the teardown and buildup of the valves and internals
    • pcv adaptations
    • step by step on carburetor rebuilds, along with suggestions concerning the power valve size and jet size on any given situation.
    • steps and tricks on mixing stock and aftermarket components...heads intakes, trannys, pumps
    • step by step breakdown on the typical problem solving techniques that plague the flathead, overheating, popping, lack of power etc.
    Good luck !

Besides Vic's, the only one I know about. It shows him putting together his blown nostalgia dragster motor. It includes the installation of an Isky 404 cam with radiused lifters cut from Johnson adjustables. Don't know if the car has ever made it down the strip, but there is a little info in it.

This is our new site, we still have to work out the kinks and the video page is not yet complete. The videos we have are: 6 to 12 Volt Conversion, Aluminum Heads & Intake Installation, From Tops to Tires, 1951 F-1 Build Up, Those Fabulous Flatheads and "Big Daddy" Don Garlits V8 Museum Tour.

    Mike,

If you come over and help me build it, I'll let you film mine for FREE! You can't beat a deal like that with a stick. :)

I'll be picking it up from the machine shop next week...

Thanks again for all your tech posts and advice.

    I just saw this guys.
I'm Kevin Kline and Yes the Video I made all about building a Flathead for Racing is still available.
It's called "Fullrace Flathead" I show the installation of the Legendary 404A Constant Acceleration Camshaft that Ed Iskendarian made so Famous.
I can now offer it on DVD for $20.00 plus shipping.
I still have the 1997 and 1998 Flathead / Inline Nationals from Bandimere Raceway, Colorado too. Each year is on it's own DVD.
I did move back in 1999 so that's my old address on the earlier posts on this site.
    My new address is;
