I think it's a fantastic idea. Contact Hollywood and get this done! And yeah, a book would be cool too.

No prequel...I would be happy if they just showed the parts of graffiti that hit the editing room floor. Out takes all of it. unedited would be fine. Lucas could make another million re-wrapping the same package

  9. Maybe the prequel could be a porn.

I like the idea of a prequel. Just dont let Lucas have anything to do with it.
Ron Howard and Speilbeg would do an excellent job.

I like the basic idea, but I think the CGI cars they'd use today would ruin it.

the views on this thread have been gone up at times over a 1000 without a post. it looks like people can have their view counted on a hamb thread without being logged on to the hamb. i have asked this question before on questions and suggestions and nobody knew.

It would be like the Bond movies without Sean Connery. I don't think Paul Lemat could pull it off now.

    Or not.

Prequal is cool. anything following "more" would be depressing.. the 70's/80's... eeech. Rootbear metalic resto rods... Gloria gaynor...

What would the storyline be? Reality...There is no interest in 50's culture right now. There is no interest in traditional hot rods by the general public. Disney would only make a movie if they were sure it would make a profit.

It will be interesting to see if the Snake vs Mongoose movie does well. it might have a chance, there are a lot of us "old guys" around that grew up in the 70's. I hope it does make a profit, then there is a chance for other car related type movies being made.

There wasn't a lot of interest in the 50's/early 60's before graffiti though.. STill.. the reality I think is it will be difficult to top AG. In my opinion it's not tat it's so great a film it can't be topped, but it told a cool story, and wrapped it nicely. Like Animal House.. You can't really top that story.. Blues brothers too.. there are just some stories that will stand alone forever. especially "time pieces" As much as I disliked fast times at R.H I think it sums up that time in North America. What can be said that hasn't been said?

It could be done, and well. But, I don't think you can get the necessary cooperation out of the provincial Hollywood crowd. Just look at "Ghost Busters III." We'll see a ZOMBIE invastion before that damn movie ever gets made!

i see that there is going to be a prequel based on the movie psycho. it is a tv series called bates motel. i think american graffiti is far more deserving of a prequel. a movie or a tv series

    Psycho+Hitchcock=Classic
American Graffiti to the average Joe is just another "car movie" and I am a fan of A.G. but there's no comparison to a classic Hitchcock movie.
Besides, A.G 2 sucked and I saw it "new" at the theater and look at the Star Wars I II and III. Not as good as IV, V and VI, IV being the best of the lot and I being the worse. Damn Jar Jar.

  30. Combine the methods of both films.

Set the stories in 59,60,61. Showing how it all converged to one night in 1962
That would free up a lot of things.

1959- Candy Clarks role- Big Elvis fan, sings in church, never fits in, Father is a drunk, Mom is running around town all night.

Ron and Cindys roles - They hook up and go kinda steady. Toad and Dreyfuss charactors are hanging out at the poolhall, when Dreyfuss sees the mysterious blond headed girl for the first time.

    1960- Milner finds his coupe

MacKinzie Phillips charactor comes from a broken home, sees Milner for the first time and keeps coming around busting his chops...................and for some reason, although Milner ignores her, it keeps happening now and then all the way into 1962 --she keeps coming back like a bad penny.

All through the show, the principal is a jerk, a military reject with a chip on his shoulder until the end.

Candy Clark sees Patsy Cline by accident, Patsy hangs out with her for a while talking about singing in church. Candy has no idea who Patsy is, until of course, she see's her on tv performing.

Ron Howards charactor gets his 58 chevy, stock but with a 348

Dreyfuss's charactor is having to go with his strict religious grandmother, grocery store run, who treats him like he is 5 years old-----and he sees the mysterious blond again---she smiles just like she did every other time. But that's it.

1961-Milners coupe is in primer, it's very fast indeed. Killing everything that comes it's way. Falfa, then just a flunkie ride-along with his big brother, comes into town. It's his big brother that gets killed in a bad ass street race on Paradise road, against Milner. Falfa meanwhile, is hung up with a girl back in town when he gets the news and later sees the car hauled behind a wrecker. He never meets Milner until of course 1962.

Just take it from there and keep the flavor. Never forget how the original AG felt and looked, and bend the story there, so that it fits perfectly.
