Miniature Flathead V8 rumbles like the real thing

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Bill McGuire, Nov 7, 2012.

  1. One thing we've learned at Motor City Garage: You guys LOVE operating model engines, especially ones with a healthy sound -- the more like the real thing, the more you like 'em. So here's a quarter-scale flathead V8 by Ron Colonna you're probably going to enjoy a lot.

    Check it out here:

  4. Neglected to mention bore and stroke are one inch by one inch.

  5. Now that's cool. Would love to hear that Offy beside it too.

    That Ferrari V12 sounds awesome!

That was bad arse. I have always toyed with the idea of building a mini hot rod for my son... Kept thinking how lame a lawnmower or electric motor would be. This would be kick arse.

Did a little research... you can purchase the casting kit a a few accessories for the flattie here:

    http://www.colespowermodels.com/engines.htm

it's called the The Challenger C-600

    Bore: 1"
    Stroke: 1"
    Weight: 18 LBS
    Length: 12"
    Width: 7"
    Height: 8"

  15. Exactly. Colonna built this first engine from a Challenger Kit his wife gave him for Christmas. Since then he's built all kinds of miniatures.
