And the new profile (sort of, there was still some bracing and wheel-well that had to be cut out, so the top could come down all the way in the back)...

I worked with Gene back in the late 80's. He was building a working street car of a movie car he had done for the Woodie Allen movie Sleeper.

(Still can't figure out how to post a picture here).

Great guy and is willing to pass on his knowledge. Unlike others in the industry that won't even help other professionals without wanting to get paid. I last saw Gene at the National Hot Rod show in Pomona in January. At that time he told me he wasn't doing that well health wise. I really hope he's recovered since then. However he is getting up there.

Hey, even after working for him, I'd pay to take one of his classes!

Mr. Winfield is a great guy. I had the privilage to meet him in travel to a local car event. Hosted by our local magazine owner/writer. I had no idea who I was talking to until I mentioned it to a friend. He told me about the skill and history of Winfield. I had 10-12 minutes to ask a few questions and talk hot rods. Gene is very nice, supportive of new guys learning, and doing the job right.

Gene is one of the masters and there are fewer of the "Old Guys" left to learn from. I think it is wonderful that he takes his time to teach the trade and if I ever get the chance to see him again I will.

Alex you rank up there with the legends in my book and you are picking up where the masters have left off. One day I would love to come visit and sit in with you and learn a few of your tricks of the trade!!;)

Need some help guys, I want to go to this course and I've got flights arranged but not booked. I can't seem to get an answer when I call the shop phone number posted in that article. I need to make sure I can get in before I go ahead booking a flight half way across the country. Anyone know of another number or any other way of getting ahold of someone to find out about the course?? Thanks

Sorry for the delays in getting back to you guys but we were locked out of the HAMB for almost a year. In response to the phone this last week, Gene was at SEMA and the message box got full. We are up and running full speed this week. Feel free to call us. 661-824-4728.Thanks, Office guy.

I had the pleasure of going to Gambino's Shop last year to learn from Gene. I met some very talented "classmates" of all ages, skill levels, as well as professional backgrounds. Everyone was respectful and got to hang in a very "Kool" hands on environment (thanks again Alex). Gene's words "everyday is a school day" was something I will never forget.
